Holy Spirit or Wholly Evil? Pope Annalisa
June 16, 2010 by Rebbekah
Filed under Book Recommendations, New Shows
What forces were at work when the unthinkable become reality and an African nun was elected the first female pope? Amid conflicting prophecies of destruction and renewal she came. She is a healer, a miracle worker, a captivator of men’s souls. But when demonic-looking symbols begin appearing around the Vatican upon her arrival, were her enemies correct about her being the prophesied figure who will destroy the Church and lead the world order to ruin?
Author Peter Canova has spent much of his life seeking to understand the forces that link humanity together at an unseen level. His former businesses—hotel development, shipping, and import/exporting—carried him around the world, where he met a variety of spiritual figures, each of whom appeared in his life unsolicited and confirmed his conviction that spirit transcends the religious beliefs that tend to divide people. In Pope Annalisa, he explores an ancient spiritual tradition which cut across not only Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, but also the so-called pagan mystery schools of ancient days.
For more information about Peter Canova’s book “Pope Annalisa” I encourage you to check out his site at http://www.popeannalisa.com there is a ton of information about the book, reviews, awards and so much more! Here is what one reader said about Mind Programming:
“READ THIS BOOK – if you want fabulous insight into the secret battles that are being waged for your mind – AND want tangible solutions to help you protect it.
“As a student of thought physics, metaphysics, quantum physics, and all things related to the powers of our minds, including the paranormal, I have felt for some time that the last wars on this planet will be fought not for the control of land or money but for our minds.
“Eldon’s book outlines in excellent detail the battle that is going on– and documents how it has been going on for some time. Anyone familiar with Remote Viewing or the experiments done by our own CIA and other agencies knows the frightening validity of this reality.
“I especially love that Eldon did not just leave us in conspiracy land, but also devoted the second half of the book to actual exercises we can do to experience the mysteries of our minds and feel the excitement of exploring this vastly unknown frontier.
“Here’s an interesting side benefit you may not expect: When you tap into these deeper levels of mind and connect with the all knowing part of yourself, you begin to experience life in a very different, very peaceful way.
“So, probably the best reason of all to read this book is to learn to develop the powers of your mind for good. When you do that, you will be, in my opinion, doing high soul work to truly help this planet and everyone on it.
“It doesn’t get much better than that, does it now?
“P. S. The Subliminal CD “Serenity” included in the book is a fabulous surprise gift. Simply priceless – all of it.”

Mind Programming is really two books in one. The first half of the book is the tell-all story that uncovers the unseen influences that are so pervasive, penetrating and effective. It is no wonder that failure is so much more common than success! The second half of the book is all about the tools and technologies you can use to cleanse your mind of the non-sense you may not have even recognized as being present before reading this liberating book. Think about it. How many original thoughts do you really have? How many thoughts are about your limitations, your fears, your anxieties, the things you want, and so forth. You will learn that from sickness and anxiety to the way you comb your hair and dress, and so much more, all are a part of what you have been trained to think and choose. You will also learn some very simple easy-to-use tools that can free your mind and empower your being.

August 30, 2009 by Rebbekah
Filed under Book Recommendations, New Shows
Archetypal Dreamwork was founded almost forty years ago by Marc Bregman, in central Vermont. He began by working one-on-one with people and their dreams, listening with great attention to the intention of the dream.
The foundation of this particular way of working with dreams has remained the same over all these years – that each person’s dreams are an individualized and particular map through the landscape of feeling and experience to find the door to the person’s true soul self. On that journey, we can reclaim the passionate parts of what we have lost along the way. The key is that each person is unique, each journey particular to the dreamer, each person’s relationship to their work their own.
On the interview today I had the pleasure to talk to founder Marc Bregman, Christa Lancaster, and Susan Scavo from North of Eden.

Marc Bregman, Christa Lancaster, and Susan Scavo
During the interview I share a recurring dream that has been “haunting” me for a few months, talking about and exploring dreams is a very personal issue, however Marc, Christa, and Susan were able to give me a few ideas on the meaning of my dream. I have always been interested in learning what dreams mean, they seem to come to me more when things in my life are stressful, or up in the air so to speak and I have always felt that dreams were meant to help us move forward in our lives and to grow.
I learned a lot about Archetypal Dreamwork during our interview but 30 minutes just does not do the topic justice, I found out during the interview that North of Eden is holding FREE seminars to explain in greater details Archetypal Dreamwork as well as offers classes to those who are interested in further exploring their own path into Archetypal Dreamwork. For more information please read below where I have posted the upcoming FREE seminars.
There are also a series of books that you can purchase online that will help you learn more about Archetypal Dreamwork, the first in the series is The Deep Well Tapes:
The Deep Well Tapes

The Deep Well Tapes Book-First in a Series
The Deep Well Tapes is the first book in a series of books about Archetypal Dreamwork. Written by founder Marc Bregman with Susan Marie Scavo and Ellen Keene, the book explores the foundations of Archetypal Dreamwork, offering a broad view of this unique way of working wtih dreams.
From the back cover:
“The journey to the Fields of Abraham and the fullest sense of being in the fields require the descent into the deep well. It is there that one finds the true life with the Divine. I know of no spirituality that exists without a direct, personal soul to soul connection with the Divine.
The dreams are like a giant screw turning ever deeper into this deep well. Ultimately, it is where the work will go, passing through the hurts, the loss, the ignorance, the lack of feeling, passing through the history of the past that has long since been forgotten. The screw turning through and in the underbelly of the core fear and pain that all humanity feels, and still turning into the place where He stands resplendent in front of us, driving us yet even deeper into evolution and growth.
The unfoldment within the deep well is the blossoming of our very selves and the experience of our selves that is completely new and unchartered. There is nothing I can say that is not just an implication of that future within each and every person. We are all capable of this, if we are willing.”

We will explore questions such as What is Archetypal Dreamwork? How is it different from other ways of working with dreams? What is the true intention of our dreams? How does Archetypal Dreamwork work and why would I do it?
Upcoming dates:
September 21, October 19, November 16 or December 14

Empowering Women & 2012 A Spiritual Awakening
February 8, 2009 by Rebbekah
Today’s show is with Linda Ballou author of Wai-nani High Chiefess of Hawaii. While this is a fiction book rather than a self help book, the book is all about empowering women and how one women did what she wanted against all odds-even the threat of death…the book is written in celebration of the Hawaiian people of old, especially Ka’ahumanu-the forerunner of the modern woman.
Second half of show Jay Hill will be on talking about his book 2012: A Guide to Spiritual Awareness. How the human race is on the brink of a new era.
*Note from Admin due to my audio editing program I was unable to split up the two shows-hopefully I will be able to get the program working and be able to give both shows their own page which is what was intended.
First part of show:
We open up with Linda Ballou author of Wai-nani High Chieftess of Hawaii. Linda explains how writing was not only a healing process for herself but how Wai-Nani can also be a great role model for women all over the world in the sense of knowing what feels right to her and becoming the woman she wants to be no matter what situation they are in.
To many times today we women don’t feel empowered, we let others walk all over us because we were taught not to trust our own instincts. Wai-Nani shows us that we can be and do whatever our heart says is right for us even if others do not believe it is right. Wai-Nani shows us that we are powerful and can become one with nature and follow our own true nature if only we allow it.
Second part of show:
We end the show today with Jay Hill author of 2012 A Guide to Spiritual Awakening.
We hear all the time that the world is going to end on December 23, 2012. But is it really? Or is it only the end of what we have known for years? Can it be possible that the year 2012 will really only be the beginning of a new era for humans?
Jay Hill believes so as does his co-author Michelle Kraus.
“The human race is on the brink of a new era”
Big changes are coming our way, and many of them won’t be pleasant with threats to our environment and global peace already underway. But Jay Hill and Michelle Kraus, the authors of 2012: A Guide to Spiritual Awareness, assure us that if we can truly touch our spiritual cores that we can overcome anything. Hill and Kraus spent one year channeling the vital information brought to you in this book by their spiritual guides and angels and also by spiritual entities who are working for the good of humanity and our planet.
This book is not about the end; it’s about the beginning—the beginning of a new way of thinking, feeling, and living among the human race on this planet we call our home. You don’t need to be a meditation expert or a spiritual guru to benefit from this book. This book is directed at anyone and everyone who wants to wake up spiritually and get through the changes that are coming with love, compassion, and resilience. Use it as a guide to living sustainably, peacefully, and in harmony with the All.
So you decide is the year 2012 going to be the end of it all or just a new beginning?

“A souce of compassionate wisdom just at the time when it is needed most.”
Friday January 30, 2009 Dreamvisions 7 Radio and WBNW 1120 AM Boston Radio show
Void of Moon with author Denise Falcone
Women in the process of marital separation need help. Void of Moon, The Emotional Journey Through Marital Separation is based on the author’s personal journey and the expression of many women through this strange and unfamiliar time.
During our interview Denise and I talk about the emotions women go through even before they decide to file for divorce. I do want to stress here that Denise’s book can be used by anyone to better their relationship as well, while some people already know that divorce will happen I can see how Denise’s book would help out any relationship as you go through many different struggles and emotions along the way.
Denise also talks a little about using her book for such relationships as bosses, friends and co-workers as well since no matter what type of relationship you are having trouble with you go through the same emotions when you are trying to separate yourself from a bad situation.
I loved how Denise started out her book with how she lost it one day and started throwing dishes out her window, while we both don’t recommend letting your frustrations get this far it does help you to understand that Denise has indeed gone through the same emotions and frustrations we all feel during a tough time. I love it when I know that the people I am interviewing or reading their books or blog posts know exactly what I am going through because they have experienced it themselves, it is easier for me to relate to the knowledge that they know and for me to learn from them as well. I commend Denise for sharing her own feelings, frustrations and thoughts on what worked or didn’t work for her.
So I encourage you to listen to the show, feel free to post any comments below in the comments section and then go and purchase Denise’s Book “Void of Moon“.

It blocks their entrance into school, while dropping paper clues about Jefferson Davis’ lost Civil War gold. Things get more complicated when a school fire occurs.
Mysterious events soon overtake Raul, Malcolm, and Anna Mae at school as well as at home. Rats, alphabet noodle clues, floating chalk, and phantom false-bottom wagons lead the tweens to travel the same route by car that was taken by Jefferson Davis and his gold-laden wagon train.
With divining rods given to her by her granma, computer printouts, and Spirit Journey memories that take her back to a Civil War past, Anna Mae, Raul, and Malcolm find Jefferson Davis’ lost gold treasure, part of it buried on Chennault Plantation and more of it in a vacant lot on the outskirts of Warthen, Georgia.

“Simply a Woman of Faith-How to Live in Spiritual Power and Transform Your Life” with author Pat Hastings.
Are you wondering where God is in your life?
Are you looking for God in your daily life, looking for miracles, looking for a sign that God is there for you?
Pat Hasting’s book is simply the best motivational and spiritual book I have read in a long time. Her stories of how finding things she needed at garage sales by asking God for help: for instance her husband was out of work and he had a job interview and needed a size 12D wing tip shoes-not a common yard sale item. God answered her prayers and she was able to find the shoes her husband needed to a job interview.
Her book is filled with so many inspirational and wonderful stories about miracles and how God does provide or lead you to where you need to go, it filled my heart with joy last night as I was reading and made me start to really think again where those “instincts” come from.

How writing changed one woman’s life

For over 12 years Yolanda Jackson found herself being shipped from one foster home to another. During this time she wrote to help her deal with her life. She got out of foster care at age 17 and became a medical transcriptionist and now writes for a living.
Yolanda during the interview talks about how at age 17 she was let out of the foster care system and literally walked out of the court house with no where to go. How she struggle for many years working 3 jobs just to make it and having never really been alone felt she needed to keep busy hence so many jobs at once, she was afraid to be alone in her first apartment.
From high school Yolanda always had the dream to become a writer, she didn’t have parents who supported her dreams and many times neither did her teachers. But that didn’t stop Yolanda from reaching for her dreams!
Writing eased her pain of moving from one foster home to another or one group home to another. Everytime she moved she tried to write a novel to help her cope with her new hom, and because of this she became more involved in writing and she began to image places that only exist in fantasy or animals that only inhibit one’s imagination.
She published her first book “Peter Carrot-Top In Search of the 8th Key” in December of 2008 and her goal is to keep writing for children of the world to show them that they can do anything they can put their mind to and to keep using their imagaination to dream and to dream big.
NOTE FROM ADMIN: After interviewing Yolanda it is my honest opinion that Yolanda may be the next J.K Rowling. Yolanda is very passionate about her work, and for someone to have gone through what she went through and still follow her dreams there is no stopping this lady! Yolanda is a wonderful woman and I wish her all the luck and success to her!
You can purchase Yolanda’s book “Peter Carrot-Top In Search of the 8th Key” through Amazon.com, BarnesAndNoble.com or any other online bookstore.

The No Complaining Rule

On October 31 Jon Gordon author of The Energy Bus and The No Complaining Rule was on our WBNW 1120 AM Boston Radio show talking about his new book “The No Complaining Rule“.
Have you ever noticed how often you complain? I don’t mean the legit complaints that once you say them you can give an honest solution but the complaints that just fly out of your mouth that honestly didn’t need to happen?
Lately I had been surrounded by people who all they did was complain, and it started rubbing off on me…I hated how it made me feel, to be honest like I say on the interview at first I didn’t realize it had rubbbed off on me till an incident happened that made me stop and look back over the past 2-3 months.
Jon is very straight forward and down to earth and his book is written like a fiction book but is actually based on a real company.
About The No Complaining Rule
“It’s Tuesday morning and Hope walks into her office with puffy eyes, a swollen head and a broken heart. Unfortunately her company, EZ Tech, is in worse shape than she is. The fact that their computer batteries are catching on fire are the least of their problems. Employees have been posting negative comments about management on internet blogs for the world to see, the media is attacking the credibility of the company, morale is at an all time low, negativity is at an all time high and the stock price is falling faster than the Titanic. As head of Human Resources, Hope is charged with finding a solution to overcome the biggest challenge in her company’s history. In the process of battling her own adversity she discovers The No Complaining Rule and other positive ways to save her company and herself from ruin.”
In the spirit of his international best selling book, The Energy Bus, Jon Gordon once again shares an inspiring and enlightening story that reveals a powerful way to tackle the biggest problem in business and life today… negativity. It costs organizations billions of dollars and impacts the morale, productivity and health of individuals and teams. Based on an actual company that created and implemented The No Complaining Rule, Gordon delivers an engaging story filled with innovative ideas and practical strategies to develop positive leaders, organizations and teams. For managers, team leaders or anyone looking to turn negative energy into positive solutions, The No Complaining Rule shares powerful principles and an actionable plan to win the battle against individual and organizational negativity. When you implement The No Complaining Rule you’ll spend less time and energy on problems and more time focused on solutions.

Importance of Working With Long-Term Care-Givers

With more and more families having to deal with dementia and alzeheimers people are searching for the help and assistance they need to help those they love be more comfortable as they combat this increasingly broading disease.
In the next few years more and more families will be faced with having to take care of aging parents, family members and even friends (According to a 2007 survey conducted by Harris Interactive for The MetLife Foundation, memory loss is second only to cancer as the nations most feared disease.)…while there is help out there for those who have dementia many times there is not help for the caregivers. Caregivers are a rare breed, they give and give all the while still trying to keep the rest of their lives normal.
Dr. Bresky has developed a 9 point system that not only helps those who suffer from dementia but also help for caregivers. We all know that if caregivers are not taking care of themselves, they too will fall ill.
On today’s show Dr. Bresky talks about his 9 point system and how caregivers can give more to themselves while still helping out those they love.
All supporters who donate $5.00 will have their website links added to our Recommended Links section on HYTR & HY Magazine plus a special thank you will be sent out to our newsletter as our way of thanking you. Thank you again for all your love and support. After delivering nearly 10,000 babies (using husband-coached natural childbirth) as a board-certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist for over 30 years, Arnold Bresky M.D. switched his focus 12 years ago to the other end of lifes spectrum. He now devotes his full attention to memory function and considers himself a quality of life healer and preventive gerontologist. He maintains that most individuals and their families who are dealing with issues related to aging can be helped through pro-active intervention and treatment.
Recognizing the importance of assisting Alzheimers and dementia sufferers, Dr. Bresky began to practice Preventive Gerontology in 1996, and continues to work daily with his patients one-on-one. In 2005, he became known as the memory doctor at the Jewish Home for the Aging in Reseda, California, and then co-founded the Brain Longevity Center in Thousand Oaks, California in 2007. He currently serves as Medical Director of the Camarillo Springs Holistic Medical Center in Camarillo, California. He is also spearheading the Memory Care Network and Brain Tune-Up Center (www.mybraintuneup.com).
As an expert in the field, Dr. Bresky recognizes the important role caregivers play in society in working with seniors and individuals with disabilities, as well as long-term care workers to provide quality care.
While Alzheimers disease has reached crisis proportions in the United States, the good news is that physicians now know how to protect aging brains and to slow the progression of cognitive decline.
Dr. Bresky says planning for tomorrow starts today. The symptoms of dementia can be delayed for 3-5 years through healthy lifestyles and behavior modification. If we can slow the progression of Alzheimers by 5 years, we can cut the number of cases in half, he says. If the onset of Alzheimers were delayed by 10 years, the disease would essentially be eradicated.
According to a 2007 survey conducted by Harris Interactive for The MetLife Foundation, memory loss is second only to cancer as the nations most feared disease.
Care-giving is a vital linked issue, Dr. Bresky notes. As the years pass, he says the supply of caregivers will decrease and the demand needed will dramatically increase. Both the drafted and professional caregiver have no scientific protocols to follow and therefore they burnout and become victims.
Memory is crucial for learning new material and new skills every day. We have the power to have a younger and healthier brain, but we have to continue to be a life-long learner, Dr. Bresky says. You either use it or lose it!
Dr. Bresky has created a caregiver road map for both self-care and how to care for others. Its all contained in his new book The Secret for Caregiver Success which will be released in mid-June, and available online (www.mybraintuneup.com) as well as at leading bookstores.
In his book to help combat memory loss, Dr. Bresky outlines a revolutionary new program called the Brain Tune-Up, a multi-disciplinary system to teach individuals how to continue growing intellectually, creatively, gracefully, successfully and emotionally as the years progress. My program improves the memory function to enhance a persons quality of life, he adds.
Dr. Breskys user-friendly 9-Point Brain TuneUp system is holistic and centered on preventive medicine. Simply, its therapeutic recreation for individuals and facilities to combine attention-training workbooks using art and music (Mozarts piano Concerto #21 is his favorite) and over 2,000 brain exercises. His four pillars of brain health are — physical activity, mental activity, social activity and good cardio-vascular health.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Bresky received his B.S. Degree from Brooklyn College and M.D. Degree in 1965 from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Along the way, he attended Yeshiva with his sights set on becoming a Rabbi, but instead won a scholarship which helped him enter medical school. Upon moving to Los Angeles, he began his residency as an OB/GYN at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Hollywood in 1966 and in 1970 entered private practice in the San Fernando Valley.
The Autism Frequency and The Path to Consciousness

Can one book really change your life? We think it can.
Thousands of people around the world have participated in The AIM Program of Energetic Balancing after reading about a powerful and unique spiritual healing technology in the novel Sanctuary.
Stephen Lewis is with us talking about the frequencies and how his program can help those children with Autism. Stephen is offering his program THE AIM Program of Energetic Balancing free to those children who have been diagnosed with Autism.
|
Stephen Lewis, founder of EMC² and co-author of the novel Sanctuary: The Path to Consciousness has been exploring energetic balancing for more than 25 years. His path began with an interest in oriental philosophy combined with German psychiatry; specifically the work of W. Reich who believed energetic imbalance was the cause of all the pathology. |
|
| Eventually Lewis was led to the healing arts. His degrees include acupuncture and homeopathy, both of which are forms of energetic healing. Lewis’ extensive studies and research led him directly to the insights upon which EMC²’s spiritual energetic balancing technology is based. Thousands of people worldwide have healed themselves using their intention and the balancing frequencies of AIM. The AIM Program has earned the endorsements of Dr. Wayne Dyer, Dr. Michael Beckwith, author Kevin Trudeau and many others. | |
| EMC²’s purpose is to find imbalances in consciousness and offer energetic balancing as a way to assist living beings in the clearing and release of those imbalances in order to increase their well-being. Lewis has always made an explicit distinction between the healing that is the natural result of a shift in consciousness as compared to the medical trio of diagnosing, treating and, hopefully, curing. That medical trio is the work of medical professionals and is done TO you. Healing, on the other hand, is definitively in the realm of spirituality and must be done BY you. Lewis points out that true healers don’t actually heal you, but rather teach or inspire you to find the healing power that you naturally possess. All healing is a result of your consciousness directing your Life Force. And, in that realm, because everything is energy, anything is possible! The character of Max in the novel Sanctuary: The Path To Consciousness by Stephen Lewis and EMC² co-Founder Evan Slawson is based on the life and work of Stephen Lewis. | |

Are you creating your life exactly as you desire?
or
Does your life just seem to happen to you?
About Richard D. Blackstone
During the first forty years of my life I was sleepwalking. I listened to what other people told me about life and how I was supposed to conduct myself as I stumbled along in my journey from birth to death. I was told to follow the rules because only by following the rules and working real hard would I be able to achieve this illusive thing called “success.”
So I bought into the idea that I was a separate entity from all other people and things and went about the business of hard work and being better so that I would be successful. I got the college education, the job, the wife, the children, the house, the right car, the material possessions, the life-style, the alcohol, the drugs, the affairs, the divorce, the depression, and the guilt. While all this “life” was happening I always had this nagging feeling that there was something about life I didn’t know, the knowing of which could change my life in a more meaningful empowering way.
Then, in the late 1980’s a friend called me and said I should turn on my television and listen to the guy on the Oregon Public Broadcasting channel. Well, I turned on the television to this fellow named Deepak Chopra and he was doing a PBS fundraiser. He was talking to a small audience about a book of his called “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.” I was fascinated by what he had to say and I went out the next day, bought the book, and read it cover to cover (it’s not a very big book). Then I read it again and then I read it again. It just made a lot of sense and gave me another way of looking at life.
How Nutrition Can Help with Autism
April 25, 2008 by Rebbekah

April is National Autism Awareness Month
- Autism is a major global health crisis, with rates of incidence now at 1 in 150 children (1 in 96 boys), up from 1-10,000 in 1980.
- Scientific community fails to explain the increases – offers those affected little promise of quality of life.
o At best, families are told to do their best to cope using behavior and learning therapies (or drugs), and little encouragement or institutional support is offered to consider possible alternative solutions.
- Dietary Invention helps relieve the symptoms of autism.
o Diet and Nutrition for autism is increasingly validated and applied as an essential first step to actually helping these injured children heal.
o Parents are seeking solutions that help – and welcome all things natural.
- Parents, including celebrity Jenny McCarthy, and leading edge doctors and researchers are championing this strategy that empowers families to help their kids’ health through special diets.
o Millions of parents across America and around the world are learning that one of the most important steps to helping their children recover is right in their hands. Jenny McCarthy’s recent book, Louder Than Words, has helped fuel public awareness of empowering treatment options, particularly her success with applying diet..
- There are few experts on this specific subject. Mainstream doctors and pediatricians know nothing about nutrition and diet – and therefore do not speak about it nor can advise parents appropriately.
- Julie Matthews is a Certified Nutrition Consultant in San Francisco who has been studying diet and nutrition for autism for seven years. She has supported more than 200 families with autism.
- Her book, Nourishing Hope, is the only comprehensive guide to nutrition and dietary intervention for autism
o Distillation of 7 years clinical study and practical experience
o It informs both parents and clinicians.
o How to – Scientific validation, etc
Julie is:
- Passionate about helping children with autism
- Leading expert in diet and nutrition strategies for autism
- Respected international speaker on diet for autism
- An experienced radio host with over 5 years on the air
- Author of only comprehensive text about nutrition and dietary intervention for autism
- Intelligent, articulate, and contagiously engaging.
- Experienced behind the microphone and on the fly
- Can speak to first time parents, or practiced physicians or researchers
- Not phased by naysayers
Julie informs parents of options, science, and ‘how to’ of special diets for their children. Julie routinely collaborates with primary care clinicians to help their patients through therapeutic nutrition strategies.

TRANSFORMING PAIN INTO POWER – Making the Most of Your Emotions
… by Doris Helge, Ph.D.
“Learning to turn pain into power is everyone’s challenge, and this book teaches how. Reading it will help you master life.”
… Mark Victor Hansen, co-author of Chicken Soup for the Soul“Helge spent years formulating steps you can follow to become happier and more fulfilled. Her work is a roadmap to peace and joy.”
…Aquarius Magazine
This week Doris Helge is with us to talk about different emotions that we deal with in our day to day lives. First I start to talk to Doris about the grief I dealt with after the loss of my beloved Buschia (Grandmother) in December of 2007 and how it was so hard to deal with the grief and learn how to go on without her. Doris gives great information on how death is not a sad thing, it is a beautiful thing and that grief is an emotion that we can use and learn from as well.
Then I start to talk about anger, how I hate dealing with it and how I feel so out of control and how this anger stems from a family bully that I am having a hard time dealing with. Doris gives practical and very sensible advice on dealing with the bullies in our lives. How we can learn to use that anger to gain our own personal power towards the bullies in our lives.
Doris helps a listener as she asks “Can pain really be a joy?” Learn what you can do to turn your pain and other emotions that we sometimes feel we cannot handle into our own power and how this power is what makes us who we are.

The End-of-Life Handbook: A Compassionate Guide to Connecting with and Caring for a Dying Loved One. Dave Feldman is an assistant professor of counseling psychology at Santa Clara University and one of the authors; my co-author S. Andrew Lasher, Jr., MD, is director of palliative medicine at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco.
This show Rebekah White interviews Dave Feldman, Ph.D and Andrew Lasher, Jr., MD about their book The End of Life HandBook. Rebekah shares her own personal stories of dealing with the loss of her grandmother on Dec 2, 2007 and the month following her death as she was sick in the hospital and then moved to hospice.
“I wish I had this handbook when my grandmother was so ill in November of 2007, the compassion, the knowledge in the book and the medical terms that were used would have been so helpful in helping not only myself by the rest of the family deal with grandma’s health and situation.”-Rebekah White
“The End-of-Life Handbook illumines the opacity which cloaks life’s final chapter. Acknowledging the universal fear of the unknown, Feldman and Lasher light the trail which leads patients and families to reconciliation with life’s last challenge.”
- Walter M. Bortz, MD, Author of We Die too Long and Live too Short, and Living Longer for Dummies
More information about The End of Life Handbook:
Advanced technology has afforded people the opportunity to live with severe medical conditions for greater periods of time than ever in history. People may be told that they have a life-threatening disease a year or more in advance of passing away. A side effect of this reality is that patients and their families are facing unprecedented choices about how and where the death will occur. They often must choose between treatments that may extend life but cause significant side effects and hospice care that focuses on comfort but may mean foregoing other treatments. They confront endless medical opinions and receive little guidance in how to decide among them. Given such remarkably difficult choices, it’s not surprising that many family caregivers say that for them the grieving process begins before their loved one passes away.
The authors of The End-of-Life Handbook — a psychologist and a medical doctor — have attended the bedsides of countless patients, helping families navigate these difficult choices and the emotional turmoil that accompanies them. Their approach has been to offer practical advice, clearly explaining medical information, treatment options, and practical decisions that must be made; however, they feel it is equally important to stress the opportunities for hope, personal control, and loving family connection that exist right until the end. After such conversations, family members often ask them to recommend books to guide them. Now they have written the perfect one.
The End-of-Life Handbook, recently released from New Harbinger Publications, addresses a true balance of medical, practical, and emotional issues. Written in jargon-free language that is accessible to anyone, it helps families understand the complicated medical system, consider important care decisions, tackle practical issues such as wills and advanced directives, as well as cope with the emotional turmoil and daily stresses that often accompany chronic and life-threatening illness. It also features a foreword by noted palliative care physician Ira Byock, MD, author of Dying Well and The Four Things that Matter Most. Although the book tackles many emotional topics, it carefully avoids the “doom-and-gloom” trap. Instead, it emphasizes the opportunity for hope, inspiration, meaning, and human connection at the end of life.
