Boston Radio show Friday June 5, 2009

Toni Quest (TQ) is with us today on HYTR. I learned a lot from Toni about dealing with anger, depression and more by expressing your feelings through art. I love to draw myself but have not been using this talent to express my own feelings and hurt that I have been through in my own life and I hope to start doing this again, while I am not as talented as Toni is I do know that when in the past I used my drawings to express myself it was a great healing outlet.

I highly recommend you go and view Toni’s art work at her website http://www.screamingwoman.com it will take your breath away!

Artist, Teacher and Poet

As a self-taught artist, Toni Quest engages in art to express her feelings genuinely and with impact. The canvas has been a vehicle for her to discover feelings that linger deep within.

She became an artist in 1994 after surviving a head on auto collision. Her multiple injuries left her head spinning, her boyfriend bolting, and her heart and soul screaming. While recovering at home in much physical and emotional pain, she began painting faces giving birth to her Screaming Woman ™ series.

Since then, Toni Quest has licensed her award-winning painting for the book cover, View From the Middle of The Road Volume II, U.S. in Us . A selection of her poetry is also included in this anthology.

In March of 2007, Quest was interviewed on Internet Voices Radio by Dr. Niama Williams. She spoke about her artwork and her recently published poetry.

During May of 2006, Toni Quest’s portraits of James Brown were included in the Visual Soul Exhibition commemorating Brown’s 50 th year in show business. Quest’s work was displayed at the Lucy Craft Laney Museum in Augusta , GA before the legendary soul singer’s passing.

In June and July of 2006, Quest was named one of Westchester County ’s leading new artists in the Westchester Business Journal. She was selected by the Westchester Arts Council to exhibit in their Young Emerging Artists exhibition ( YEA ) in White Plains , NY .

Although most of her work has been portraiture, TQ also brings her same spirit to other subjects and incorporates it into her teaching by sharing with her students the techniques she used to teach herself. By exercising her artistic abilities, she was able to heal herself from post-trauma stress disorder, deal with physical and emotional pain, and combat Multiple Sclerosis.

Through her art, TQ bears her soul as well as her affinity to the collective consciousness of human kind. Her intent is to provoke emotion and thought, thus inspiring constructive communication about one’s relationships to others and the world around us.

Toni Quest holds a BFA in Communication Arts. She currently resides in Peekskill , New York with her dog, Lillian.

Law of Attraction getting what you ask for

Get a FREE authentic Astrology Report

This past week I realized just how powerful the Law of Attraction really is. Last weekend I decided I no longer wanted to be surrounded by negativity and people who are negative as it was starting to effect my life in ways that I could no longer handle.

Negativity no matter where it comes from does affect how we live our daily lives, from the negative news to the negative campaign ads, to people we work with and live with.  Once I decided I no longer wanted to be around negative influences, things started to happen that honestly I didn’t even realize what was happening till a couple days later.  People started to fall away in my business life and changes started to happen in my personal life.  While one instance this week I can honestly say I did not handle it well, for that I can just say “Lesson learned….need to learn to think before I speak” and while this was a life lesson for me in how fast the law of attraction can happen when you decide to take action…it was out of left field and took me completely by surprise and to be honest something I didn’t want to happen and wish I could change but that is not up to me to change.

The major lesson I learned this week is that everything happens for a reason whether we want to believe that or not, and that what you want if you are not careful will happen AND it can come completely out of the blue!

I have been studying the law of attraction for a couple years, and during this time I have learned also that when you think negative those things will happen to you as well.  When you wake up and start complaining about people in your life, about how they act and how you think the day is already starting guess what?  They will happen!  For instance this week I was complaining about someone and wished I could have just a couple days reprieve from this person’s negative influences, now I was complaining in my own mind but still I was complaining and my subsconscious heard this and things changed!  Not in a good way either, the more I thought about what was happening and how all this negative influence was making my life miserable the more upset I got, the more I was sending out negative vibrations.

So why do I tell you this story to show that when you are not in control of your thoughts, your emotions the law of attraction, the universe however you want to state it will answer your thoughts and not always with your best intentions involved.

So be careful what you think about, what you wish for and BE SURE you know what you are asking for.  Be focused on the positive and what you want in your life!

This leads me to our guest at the bottom of the hour Liz Pagayonan who is a scrapbooker.  She found out that while she was using scrapbooking to create memories of her children how focused she become on the happy times in her life and how it changed her whole outlook on things.  So she took what she herself learned and is now teaching others how to use scrapbooking to create your purpose, to be more focused.

Scrapbooking Your Intentions Using The Law of Attraction

Scrap-booking Your Intentions Using The Law of Attraction

I know in the show I talk a little about how I created a vision board, now I have created a vision board before but didn’t really get into it till the last one I created.  I went to our local craft store and bought a bunch of scrapbook stickers, embellishements, papers etc to create my vision board.  I really got into it!  My first intention was to get onto WBNW 1120 am Boston Radio and the Dream Visions 7 Radio network, I focused so hard on that intention while creating my vision board that it came true 3 days later! NOW I had to put action behind this vision BUT by creating the vision board using fun things, photos, scrapbooking materials and creating it for ME when I started putting action behind my plans to be on WBNW 1120 am radio they came true faster than if I had just “wished it”.

Liz has created a DVD that will show you how to focus on your goals, intentions and your purpose in life by using scrapbooking.  Listen in to the show as I share more about my thoughts on this past week and listen as Liz describes more about using scrapbooking to accomplish your goals!

On Liz’s site I found this:

Scrapbooking positively formed thoughts with focused intention, instantly rewrites and deeply imbeds the new way of thinking as the dominate thought. This means that you can instantly begin to experience the benefit or essence of your new way of thinking. Scrapbooking makes it EASY and FUN to completely transform any area of your life!

All I can say is give it a try! It worked for me…it really helped me to focus on what I want in my life.

Follow Your Dreams with UFC fighter Brent “The Reaper” Medley

October 15, 2008 by Rebbekah
Filed under Follow Your Dreams, Inspiration, Shows

It is my honor and pleasure to talk to Brent “The Reaper” Medley today on Heal Yourself Talk Radio. While many of my listeners are wondering why I am interviewing a UFC fighter on HYTR, there is a reason :). Brent faced many changes in his life to follow his dreams of being a UFC fight, from starting out at age 18 then moving back to his home town of Amarillo, TX to going through a long term relationship and being very successful at a career after leaving the UFC, to deciding that this was not what he wanted.  Brent decided to contact his good friend Evan Tanner and get back into the UFC with his comeback fight this Thursday October 16, 2008 in California.

During the show we discuss his first years in the UFC, the years in between UFC and deciding to go back and his special relationship with mentor and friend Evan Tanner who passed away on September 8, 2008.

More about Brent “The Reaper” Medley

A few years ago when Brent was first in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) things did not turn out the way he imagined….. so he moved back to Texas….. Amarillo to be exact. His family is there. In a committed relationship, he had a little girl, and was leading a good life in business making a good living. But the unfulfilled dream of becoming a successful UFC Fighter nagged at him continuously.

After prompting from his good friend Evan Tanner who was already leading the fighter’s life in Las Vegas, Brent returned to the octagon. He moved himself and his burning desire back to Las Vegas, and moved in with Evan where he started training and living the fighter’s life once again, leaving behind the good life in Texas for an uncertain future in the octagon of Las Vegas.

His comeback fight is this Thursday. Physically he’s in the best shape to move forward as a success in UFC.

NOTE FROM HYTR: Audio Acrobat’s players no longer work with the new updated word press, so we can no longer offer the player to listen from the site, we apologize for this inconvience.  However all downloads are safe and virus free. Thank you for your understanding.

Brent “The Reaper” Medley participated in the Evan Tanner Tribute fight which is now up on SharkFights.com

$1 dollar of each PPV purchase will be donated as well to the Evan Tanner Scholarship Fund. In his honor we are giving him and his family Tribute including a last call to the cage with 5 bells, we are also announcing the Evan Tanner Scholarship Fund to be given in his name to Evans former high school, Caprock High were Evan was a 2-time Texas State Wrestling Champion.   Evan Tanners last fight in Amarillo was at the Amarillo National Center, so it was only fitting to have this event there.

ARE YOU PREPARED?
by
Lael Johnson

Are you prepared emotionally, mentally and physically to do your each working day? Or do you arrive ill-prepared, in one way or another, at the beginning of your work day?
Barring policies that you cannot control, and could influence the outcome and your productivity, have you ever found yourself involved in any of the following situations?

For example:

1. Do you work on a project when you aren’t feeling well?
2. Do you work on a project when you are distracted?.
3. Do you work on a project in cluttered workplace?
4. Do you work on a project in a less than supportive work environment?
5. Do you work on a project in an unsafe work environment?
6. Do you work on a project with an incomplete work team?
7. Do you work on a project with incomplete instructions?
8. Do you promote your business without any business cards?
9. Do you promote your business without marketing or business plan(s)?

If you find yourself in a situation similar to these, then you need to stop and engage in some deliberate and clear journaling about your situation. You need to give yourself some written work preparation time.

How can you use journaling increase to increase your work preparation and productivity? You can use journaling to problem-solve, communicate and to reflect.

Problem-solving: You can write an entry about the work situation, including the pros and cons and any other pertinent information that will help you clarify and change your actions, thoughts and feelings.

Communication: When you need to discuss this situation with bosses, team members or potential team members, you can write several entries of dialogues, in preparation for planning sessions. You can also write entries of dialogues between yourself and other members of your team, in order to clarify your opinions on pertinent issues.

Reflection: Before, during and throughout your project meetings, you can continue to record your observations, concerns, questions and successes with this project. You can also continue to learn from each situation and apply the following questions to future projects:
1. Are you setting unrealistic expectations for yourself or others? If so, what are they?
2. Is someone setting unrealistic expectations for you? If so, what are they?
3. What result are you looking for from this project?
4. What result are others looking for from you in this project?
5. What result would you rather not have happen at the end of this project?
6. What result would others rather not have happen at the end of this project?
7. What resources will you need to complete this project?
8. How do your core values fit or not with this project?
9. How do others’ core values fit or not with this project?

When you are willing to prepare yourself mentally, physically and emotionally, via problem-solving, communication and reflection then you will be able to arrive prepared to begin each new work day.
I hope that you find this article helpful. Please feel free to comment on it here or at my blog.

About Richard D. Blackstone

Richard Blackstone

During the first forty years of my life I was sleepwalking. I listened to what other people told me about life and how I was supposed to conduct myself as I stumbled along in my journey from birth to death. I was told to follow the rules because only by following the rules and working real hard would I be able to achieve this illusive thing called “success.”

So I bought into the idea that I was a separate entity from all other people and things and went about the business of hard work and being better so that I would be successful. I got the college education, the job, the wife, the children, the house, the right car, the material possessions, the life-style, the alcohol, the drugs, the affairs, the divorce, the depression, and the guilt. While all this “life” was happening I always had this nagging feeling that there was something about life I didn’t know, the knowing of which could change my life in a more meaningful empowering way.

Then, in the late 1980’s a friend called me and said I should turn on my television and listen to the guy on the Oregon Public Broadcasting channel. Well, I turned on the television to this fellow named Deepak Chopra and he was doing a PBS fundraiser. He was talking to a small audience about a book of his called “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.” I was fascinated by what he had to say and I went out the next day, bought the book, and read it cover to cover (it’s not a very big book). Then I read it again and then I read it again. It just made a lot of sense and gave me another way of looking at life.

Katherine Reschke of The Passion Project interviewed me on her show about finding passion for your work at home business-doing what you love and love what you are doing

I have a passion for helping others, I brought this passion to me by starting a podcast called Heal Yourself Talk Radio on August 10, 2006.  By doing what you love and also have a passion for, you will be successful.  I know many times people tell you that you cannot have passion in order to have a successful business, that is not true.

Think about it Donald Trump has a passion for what he does, Einstein and Henry Ford all had their passions and their passions became very successful businesses…listen to the show here

Ho’oponopono as a way of life

To walk a path of peace, love and truth I invite that you consider Ho’oponopono “the Hawaiian art of forgiveness” as a way of life.   It is mine.  What does that mean?  It means allowing ourself to walk the talk.

As soon as I open my eyes in the morning I say, “mahalo (thank you) for another day of life I thank creator for the new dawn and all that I “get to” experience today.  I bless my family and friends, and give thanks for special people in our lives.  I bless the animals, the earth, yes and those who do not like me because we are to leave no one behind.  I await the lessons I shall surely learn today as if am opening a new present on this new dawn day because for me yesterday ended at midnight.  Before we end our prayer we ask pardon for any offenses that may occur today both willingly or unwittingly.  We  are to leave no one behind in our prayers.

Hawaiians were shown to walk the path of peace and love by adhering to the conduct code of our ancient people.  To comprehend the depth of this one must know the kaona (hidden meanings) of the word ALOHA.  Aloha is more than hello or goodbye.

Let me preface by saying that we have known from our beginning that life is fluid therefore we know ours is not the only way.  For example, if four of us were to climb the same mountain from four different sides our perceptions would be different.  Yet when we each reached the summit and observe from that vantage our perceptions would be similar but still different in many ways.  This is why.  Our own life experiences matter in thought processing.  For example I might see the coming storm cloud as beautiful for I know built into each storm is calm.  Another might see it as scary and dark while another may want to stay and experience the potential storm and the facination of lightening etc.  Perception, attitude and fluidity of living are in motion every second of every day.  Wow!

Please remember this simple sentence, “we cannot know what we do not know. ”   As we take this journey together this saying may pop up to provoke thought.  It is my intent to share mana’o (thoughts) with you in a way that teaches and builds your knowledge of healing in its multi forms.

What  unique value do we bring to you?  Lineage.  What does that mean?  Visualize standing behind  you a majestic line of ohana (family)  knowledge stretched as far as the eye can see into infinity.  They are guiding, lending of strength, holding this humble and most unworthy being upright with the wisdom of ancient warriors sharing hope, insights and incredible knowledge fround within.  That is lineage. It is of course your choice to accept or reject any of our words.  A’ole Pilikia.  No problem.

ALOHA is a way of life for me.  Others who practice this art may have different views.  Mai kai!  (wonderful~good)  I am happy for you and honor your path of wisdom.  In ancient Hawaii the code of conduct identified for us as follows:

.Kala means to miss the path.

.Hewa means to go overboard with thinking or committing a wrong.

.Ino- means an intentional slight or significant betrayal with hate in mind.

To comprehend Ho’oponopono’s intent we acknowledge that each of these offenses requires forgiveness and once complete we do not speak of the offense again.  That means once the healing love of forgiveness is extended in both directions it is pau.  (complete)  Release is the final step in the process.

To summarize;   Forgiveness is the process, release is the completion.  In the release one says,  “I forgive you.  Please forgive me too.”  It is a cleansing from both parties whether you engage face to face or in meditation and visualization.  Choice is yours to make.  In this series I will walk you through these three ways.

In our next article we shall elaborate on Aloha 101 and give you the code of conduct that we follow.   If you have questions feel free to ask and I will answer either in the next article or before.

How To Use Creativity To Improve Your Life

March 4, 2008 by Andrea

by Andrea Flowers

Are there still original ideas in the world?
They beat me to that bright idea…. what else can I do?
I’ve failed so many times before that I can’t think of anything else to solve this problem anymore.

These statements are commonly made by people who have given up on creativity. Sadly, many people think this way. They don’t know that creativity is useful tool for  improving in life in all its diversity. A situation that requires a solution can be approached in a variety of ways. You and I both know that there is no single way fix to most problems. Because of this, using your natural creativity can opens new horizons and deliver many benefits. Creativity can sometimes be mistakenly interpreted as an obstinate attitude. Some people think that insisting on doing things in a different way is a sign of stubbornness. Never hold back a good idea. You are free to interpret things in your own unique way. Any interpretations themselves are creativity at work. People who enjoys creative thinking can easily come up with innovative solutions for situations that require a quick fix. For instance, your car stalled on a deserted highway because of a leaky rubber hose in the cooling system. (Man, you had a bad day!) Of all places, it had to happen in the most remote place. One solution might be to call roadside assistance and wait 3 hours for them to show up…. A more creative solution would be to use the pack of chewing gum in your purse. Huh? Here’s what you can do with the gum….

Chew the gum, now patch it on the leak.  Tie the gum in place with an old rag from the trunk (this will keep the gum in place). This quick fix might do the trick long enough for you to drive several miles to a service station without overheating your engine.

From this simple example, you can see that creativity is a never-ending learning process. From each experience, you gain valuable knowledge you can use in real life situations. Yes, you might have to think out-of-the-box, venturing into the uncommon. You can never be sure of your ideas until you try them. As long as there is no perceived danger involved, it is always worth a try. Inventions are products of creative minds. The field of science, in whatever branch you may touch on, is invention itself. Without creative minds, science would have been a forlorn field of knowledge. It must be noted that most adaptations to improve or improvise are aimed at improving current conditions. Upon analyzing honest applications of creativity, the ultimate intention is to achieve good for all and the will to build lasting peace. After all, this intention is what counts most. Erich Fromm spelled it out clearly, the conditions for creativity are:

  • to be puzzled,
  • to concentrate,
  • to accept conflict and tension,
  • to be born everyday
  • to feel and sense of self

The Artist Way-Artist Dates

March 3, 2008 by Rebbekah
Filed under The Artist's Way, creativity

I have been slow moving with the Artist Way but have been working on my writing pages everyday.  Julia challenges us to each morning wake up and write 3 pages in a journal to release all things from our mind that may be blocking our creativity. At first I was like I already write in a  journal everyday so how is this differnent from that?

Well, when I was writing in my journal I didn’t always allow myself to be free and open minded, to release everything that was in my head.  When I started writing the pages everyday and making them at least 3 pages I was able to release things in my mind that I had kept hidden…because I didn’t want to deal with them.

Then I started to read about artist dates-this was a new concept in the form of actually scheduling one day a week a few hours to go out and do something I enjoy. I love to go to bookstores, even if I cannot purchase a book but of course I usually do as I love learning and the feeling of a good book in my hands, the smell of the paper and the atmosphere in the bookstore.  But I started to explore other areas of things I like to do, one of them is going to the museum I love museums but no one every wants to go with me.  I never thought about me going all by myself. So that is my plan to go out one afternoon to our local art museum take my pad of paper and pen and walk around the museum and enjoy the art and let my own creativity flow through.

By doing the daily writing pages and looking ahead and scheduling a couple hours to do something for me has really opened me up and has helped me with my own creativity.  I have been able to discover things about myself that I thought either I had already dealt with or didn’t realize I needed to deal with.  I have a closer connection with myself….something I have been searching for awhile.

Being a mom, a wife, a daughter in law and a business owner sometimes I lose myself in all that I do each day.  I have rediscovered who I am and I am only just in the beginning of my studies for The Artist’s Way.  I can’t wait to see where else this book takes me in my search for me.

So if you could schedule a date just with yourself once a week for a couple hours what would you do?

Journal Quote-Where you are….

February 26, 2008 by Rebbekah

This week’s journal quote is:

“Where you are is a cause for celebration-not an apology”

I found this quote today in my “The Courage of Leadership” cards from Nancy Solomon.

For me this quote means a lot. See there are many times I sit here and go I am not where I want to be, I am not where I had planned out 5 years ago or in high school etc etc and I start giving out excuses of why I am not where I thought I should be, making an apology to myself and sometimes to my family for not being where I had planned.

When I read this quote it hit me so what if I am not where I thought I would be, I have come farther then I ever had written done.  No I may not have my dream house like I had planned, I may not be rich or have my dream car right now…BUT I have come a long way…when I came online 5 years ago I didn’t know how to send an email attachement I now run a popular internet radio show, coach others in virtual assistance, build websites and do logos and other graphic work for clients, run a health podcasting directory and will soon be opening up a healthy living online magazine!

I never would have imagined being where I am today 18 years ago in high school!  I have actually come farther then my own plans ever were…

I do not need to apologize for old dreams or for old goals list, goals and dreams change as you get older….love were you are today and be proud of what you can do!

Do a dance! Celebrate who you are and celebrate your accomplishments so far in your life, NO MORE excuses NO MORE apologies for who you are or where you are in life :)

-Rebecca White

P.S. Please feel free to post your thoughts on this quote in the comments section below, I will be posting one maybe two quotes a week and writing about what they mean to me.  If you don’t want to share what it means to you by all means write it down and journal about it in your own personal, private journal.

Discover Your Passion

Have you ever noticed that some of the happiest, most successful people in the world share one major characteristic? They love what they do.

I mean have you ever heard of a self-made millionaire who hates what he or she does for a living? Quite the contrary, they are passionately enthused about how they earn money.

And believe it or not, there are many spiritual laws and principles that actually cause this result to occur.

Instilled within every one of us is a passion; a desire that lives within us to participate in activity that can make time seem non-existent when we are involved in it. This passion comes from our soul. And that’s where it lives. As I said before, this passion lives within each one of us.

Any successful person knows how to consciously tap into this passion. Once they do, they begin figuring out how they can earn a living through it.

Take professional singers for example. Most professional singers that made it on their own and came from nothing started out as a person with a passion. The passion that lived within them, once discovered becomes a catalyst for two things that are essential for success: opportunities and persistence.

Here’s how this works. Your passions were instilled in you when you were born from the universe. Whatever you are passionate about is what you were meant to do in this life. When you are embraced in an activity that correlates to your passion, the universe begins to provide you with opportunities to capitalize on.

Secondly, when involved in a passionate activity, you are in state of bliss and when in that state, all the other things like anger, frustration, laziness, sorrow - and any thing else that would otherwise cause you to give up - are non-existent. For that reason, you remain more persistent than just the average person who may be doing what you are doing but isn’t truly passionate about it.

The same is true for singers. Any professional singer will tell you that the music business is an externally hard business to get into and the drive and persistence needed to keep on going after all the rejection that occurs, are only found in those with a true passion for singing. And that is what separates those who make it from those who don’t.

These principles apply to anyone involved in any industry or lifestyle. If you really want to become successful and live in harmony with your soul, you must discover your passions.

As hard as it may be to believe, sometimes discovering one’s true passion can be a little difficult. Additionally, once you do, not many people are confident that they can actually make a living doing what they love. And that’s where I can help.

I have put together a best selling truly effective hypnosis program on how to discover your passions. This program will help you tap into both your subconscious and your soul to discover what you were put on this planet to do. Once you have that information, you will be able to start doing what you love and taking advantage of the opportunities that the universe will send your way.

Wait no more. The time is now:
