Clearing limiting beliefs for your success

Launched into door to door preaching and sales of religious publications at the age of 6, Jan Janzen spent 38 years as a Jehovah’s Witness!
But in 1999, she walked away from a religion she had known all her life and lost almost everything – friends, most of her family and her husband of 18 years. No longer feeling comfortable “being in the box” of the religion, she escaped the confines by literally moving to an island and cutting off all connection with her past.

Jan Janzen
Now that Jan was “out” she realized she needed to learn the very basic things most Western society take for granted, including how to celebrate her first birthday and Christmas at 40 years old and what new beliefs she needed to develop in order to function alone in an entirely new society. Everything in her life was now in question – from blood transfusions to sex.
Jan knows what it takes to sell (she purchased her first Molly Maid franchise at the age of 19) so she threw herself into business. Nominated as one of the “most influential women in business in Vancouver, in 2003, Jan began one of the fastest growing networking organizations for women.
In May 2004 she became ordained as a non-denominational minister and after completing her studies with Religious Science, she spent 8 weeks volunteering in South Africa. After a strong gift of healing showed up in 2005, Jan helped clear her business coaching clients of the emotional and limiting blocks that were holding them back in their business. Her healing business, booked solid weeks in advance, was built entirely by referral.
“You can only grow professionally as much as you are willing to grow personally.”
- Jan Janzen
Jan´s latest book, Getting Off the Merry-Go-Round: How to Create the Life You Want Without the Fear, Doubt and Guilt was released in late 2008 and chronicles Jan´s journey from almost bankrupt, homeless and divorced to the amazing life she lives in abundance today.

Getting Off The Merry-Go-Round By Jan Janzen
Jan’s story is amazing! I have learned a lot from Jan’s Book Getting Off the Merry-Go-Round. Jan’s book made me rethink my own beliefs, revisit past issues in my life and finally feel that I can make my own decision that was right for me. I finally understood some of the issues I was facing, and I am working on them each and every day thanks to Jan’s book. This is not one of those “read fast” and put it away types of self-help books, this is one you will want to keep on your bookshelf and re-read it often.
It is such an inspiration to hear other’s stories and learn from them, Jan’s story is one that I will remember for a long time to come!

Today’s show was our first AM Radio Show out of Boston MA on WBNW 1120 AM radio and I am very proud to have had Stacey Kannenburg on the show to talk about how we can become more involved in our children’s education.
We talk about several topics that are near and dear to parents hearts. Including how to be more involved in our children’s education, how to handle bullies and more. Rebbekah talks a little bit about how having child with autism can be a struggle in the beginning but with the right contact with school administration and teachers how that can change your child’s education and make a parent feel more at ease.
Stacey is the author of Preparing for Kindergarten and Preparing for First Grade.

Let’s Get Ready For Kindergarten! and Let’s Get Ready For First Grade! are winners of the Adding Wisdom Award and are taking the nation by storm, helping parents and kids prepare for Kindergarten and First Grade! Teachers at home and school love it! It’s not a storybook or a workbook; it’s a book that covers the curriculum that children learn by reading. These books are a great resource for any parent whose child is entering school. The activities are both fun and easy so kids won’t feel like they are doing homework. In the back there are also helpful parenting and caregiver tips such as, always have paper, pencils, crayons, glue and scissors readily available. Other features include a doodling page and questions for parents to ask their children while reading. All-in-all this is a great resource for both parents and children to learn together!

Today’s show we have two time football hall of famer Vince Palko on the show talking about many different topics. From his gridiron exercises call The Super Body Blitz to how to tackle stress in the tough economy.
The interview was set up to talk about Vince’s wonderful Super Body Blitz Workout and to talk a little about his career as an ad toons artist, but it morphed into so much more! For that I am glad! You really get to now who Vince Palko is. I do suggest that you sign up for his newsletter found at http://www.vincepalko.com I receive it and love reading every newsletter he sends, this is not your ordinary newsletter, each one is packed full of Vince’s wit, charm and humour.
Vince had some wonderful tips on tackling stress for those who need a list like I do I am going to post them here:
#1 Get Moving-When you feel stressed or overwhelmed get up and get moving! Exercise, get your body moving. Vince calls the 3 E’s that happen when you do this step as Evaporate Stress, Energize the body, Enable you to see that you are still in control of you own life.
#2 Find a hobby that you enjoy, that you can get lost in, that will help you get lost in and forget your worries. We also touched on a little bit about taking your hobby and turning it into a profession.
#3 Set up the vision-see what it is you want and see it, visualize it, draw it, write about it, surround yourself with people and places that are what you want.
For instance Vince gives several instances in his life that he used as a kid in school to visualize him on the college pro line…when you read Vince’s bio below you will see he achieved that and much more…

Setting Personal Boundaries
May 21, 2008 by Rebbekah
Filed under Dealing with Emotions, Personal Coaching, Shows
There isn’t a topic that comes up more frequently in coaching work than the subject of boundaries.
Years ago the mention of boundaries generally referred to property lines or dividing lines between states or between countries. Not now. Now boundaries relate to something much more personal. Boundaries refer to the lines in the sand we draw about how people treat us, about what we decide is acceptable or not, what behaviors we are willing to tolerate and how we want to be treated or spoken to. A sure sign we aren’t setting boundaries for ourselves is continually feeling we are victimized and recurring resentments towards others.
If that sounds like you, tune in for our program on Setting Personal Boundaries: Learning to Draw Lines in the Sand with Women’s Life Coach, Donna Karson.
Topics discussed:
Rebbekah discusses feelings of anger, and feeling taken advantage of by family members who seem to feel that her house is theres to come and go as they please.
A caller calls in about setting boundaries with her mother about smoking in her house….
I Create My Body with Marilyn Jenett

I was a participant in Marilyn’s program last year called “I Create My Body.” Here is what I wrote for a testimonal for her class:
When I first approached Marilyn about her I Create My Body Program I was overweight and depressed. It was coming into summer and I so dreaded getting into that swimsuit for our annual 4th of July family get together. I had no motivation, didn’t even want to pop in another exercise video and try to lose the 15 pounds I wanted to lose in order to feel good for that gathering.
I signed up for Marilyn’s class and within a few days had talked my hubby into getting me a bike so that I could get off my chair and get moving. Marilyn suggested I do something I really love…I love to bike ride but had been putting off getting a new one for ages…well, with Marilyn’s suggestion I went out and got one.
Not only was I seeing a change in my body as the weeks went by but also a change in my hubby’s attention, the self confidence I was gaining back, and the way I felt after bike riding.
During that first month and a half I lost 10 pounds just by changing the way I thought about losing weight thanks to Marilyn’s program and support.
If you have struggled with the “not another diet program” blues, then this program is for YOU! It is not another one of those dreaded diets that make you feel like you are depriving yourself. This is a total body makeover from the inside out!
Thank you Marilyn.

The I Create My Body Program is a unique lesson and mentoring experience that is based on a mental technique for losing weight that prosperity mentor Marilyn Jenett discovered many years ago from a great New Thought teacher. She used the technique over the decades to maintain her own perfect weight.
The wonderful testimonials from students of the program prove its effectiveness and now YOU will understand how you can lose weight in a natural, effortless way – by gently shifting the subconscious dominant thought. The name I Create My Body is appropriate because the program eliminates the concepts of “dieting, weight, losing weight, etc.” and instead refocuses all attention, consciously and subconsciously, on the desired result – a fit, healthy body.
By applying techniques to instill new seed thoughts in the subconscious, you create a new set of core beliefs, and those beliefs in turn create healing and a new physical condition. Any changes in your habits or routine are inspired from the inside out…naturally…not from any will power or forced action.
Marilyn is the founder and creator of the renowned Feel Free to Prosper program and adapted her teachings to include this “body prosperity.” Click here for details about the upcoming I Create My Body live teleclass:

Mastering the Art of Living: “Improving Vs Changing”
April 5, 2008 by Nani
Filed under Education, Forgiveness, Health, Ho'oponopono, Personal Growth, Positive Thinking, Reducing Stress, Self Esteem, Self Help, Spirituality
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: (This applies to work, relationships and family)
Let’s examine the possibility of a simple attitude adjustment in how we look at improvement in living as the way to move forward rather than change. Why? Change implies bringing all the baggage of the past along. That means allowing for the “we cannot know what we do not know” we explored before in Ho’oponopono. This often includes letting go of “stuff”, such as the voices of your youth; of the you cannot do that; should not do that; are you kidding me”, and negative thoughts of others, that fill our psyche with negative energy. We end up fighting not just the desire to change but the voices that have haunted for years as to why we can’t. So change becomes an exhausting endeavor? And when humans are exhausted they are prone to give up and believe they have failed.
Thinking deeper; when you decide to select improvement in living you bring forward yourself and the “definite intent” of your being front and center. You leave the other “stuff” behind because all of us strive to improve and are happy when we do.
Defending this prognosis: Change has two responses either reactive or response.
First, reactive meaning looking for what’s wrong. Second ,response meaning looking for what’s right. See the difference! Subtle change, major shift towards moving forward with hope which now flows as a quiet stream as we move through our day.
Word to the wise: Make time for cherishing each other.
Hint: Knowledge is a result. Going backward is a result. Incomplete is a result. Begin every task with the “intent to finish”. Why? So you do not get caught in the circle of repeat.
These principles called mastering the art of living are aligned with the laws of attraction and the art of forgiveness called Ho’oponopono. “Attitude is everything, there is nothing else!” Nani

By doing what you love and also have a passion for, you will be successful. I know many times people tell you that you cannot have passion in order to have a successful business, that is not true.
Think about it Donald Trump has a passion for what he does, Einstein and Henry Ford all had their passions and their passions became very successful businesses…listen to the show here

How do you perceive your home business?

What is the perceived value of working from a home office?
Have you ever been told that because you work from home or at home that you should be able to charge less than any other professional in your industry?
I haven’t yet, but there will come a day!
While reading through some other posts and after having listened to some of the shows here at blog talk radio, I’ve seen and heard of the perceptions attached to work at home moms or even work at home professionals.
Let me bring up some questions for you.
Have you invested time in researching your products, and your market?
Have you invested money in your equipment and tools?
Have you spent time building up contacts and learning what they want?
Have you worked hard to give your customer the best products that they can get?
If the answer is no, then you need to all of those things or get out of the business of being in business!
If the answer is yes, then what difference does it make that you work out of your home?
You still have to pay the bills to keep the lights and electricity on, right? You have to have a way to run your printer that makes your printed products, and the mixer that makes your bath and body products, and the computer that helps you keep in contact with your customers and suppliers. Right?
Those are all the same things that any other professional in your industry has to do!
Now, for the most important question…..
How do YOU perceive your business?

the next, how do you gauge the worth and effectiveness of these
activities? Sure, you want an activity that junior enjoys. But, we really
cannot afford to waste time on pleasure for pleasure’s sake, do we? There
needs to be a grain of gold somewhere in there. Given below is a list of
characteristics that any good after school activity must possess.
Clarity in objectives and goals is the first important thing. What does
the course offer? How does it propose to achieve the results? How many
kids make up a batch? Ask questions. After all, when you are dishing out
the dough, you really need to understand what you are getting in return.
A good after school activity will provide lots of opportunities for the
young to increase their level of understanding of complex concepts. This
is true of recreational activities too. Learning to pitch a ball, or dance
to a tune – regardless of the activity involved, the child should be
encouraged to grapple with and conquer new concepts. This not only keeps
boredom at bay by challenging the child, but also builds up his
self-confidence. Development of academic, personal and social skills is
one of the prime aims of an after school activity. As the skills develop,
the child’s self-esteem also increases.
After school activities are all about boosting a child’s sense of
competence. Good and effective after school activities promotes the
resilience of youth and encourages them to grow stronger, be it mentally,
emotionally or physically.
Safety is one of the first requirements of an after school activity. The
staff should be qualified, adequate and alert. Never put your child in a
program where safety is a matter of accident instead of a matter of
priority. The staff should be friendly and should have a positive
relationship with the child. Therefore, the program should have
professional and trained staff that loves to interact with children. The
program should maintain a cooperative and supportive attitude and a
structured environment. Participation and collaboration as opposed to
competition and antagonism must be encouraged.
Some programs involve the children in planning activities and making
decisions. Adults often forget to get the opinion of their children. By
giving the children an opportunity to voice their opinion, programs become
fun activities that children are motivated to participate in. Young people
thrive when they are listened to, respected and allowed to contribute
their mite.
Routine evaluations are an important part of after school programs. If the
child does not benefit from a class, don’t waste time being
over-optimistic. Try something new.
You are now ready to look for the perfect after school activity for your
child. But don’t let us forget that having fun is also an important part
of growing up. The child deserves a few hours of pure delight. Remember,
all work and no play, ……
Benefits of a good after school program
Children grow up in a society that demands expertise in everything. You
really cannot sit back and decide that learning from textbooks is enough
for the overall development of your child. It’s the age of specialization
and your child cannot afford to miss out on this window of opportunity.
So, scour your locality for the most advantageous programs and enroll them
for the ones you think are the best.
After school programs are basically designed to develop a talent or a
skill that is ignored by regular schools. These programs could be
educational or recreational in nature. Whatever type they are, they
basically aim to keep the child active and interested.
The most important advantage of a good after school program is that it
widens your child’s area of interests. He or she is introduced to new
things, sometimes interesting, sometimes challenging. Mastering a new art
form or a new skill increases the child’s self-esteem. It also allows you
to introduce your child to new career options. A child attending a music
class may decide that she likes it so much that she wants to make a career
out of it in the long run.
Socialization is another great advantage of after school programs.
Children get to meet others who share their interests and make new
friendships. An acting class or a soccer class can be lots of fun. Many of
these programs coach children for performances or matches. Performing on
stage or playing a match can be a great experience for a young child.
After school programs keep your teenager busy. He or she thus has some
amount of protection from destructive habits like drugs and alcohol.
Surveys indicate that children who are kept busy through diverse absorbing
activities are less prone to abuse, depression and burnout. Significant
increase in achievement and attendance and a reduction in drop out rates
are other advantages of a good after school programs.
Most after school programs have children interacting with one or more
adult. This allows them to benefit from positive relationships with
adults. Children often find it difficult to confide in parents and
teachers, but may open up with other adults.
Many children are put into recreational after school programs so that they
reduce weight and remain healthy. A newly emerging trend shows that about
15% children below the age of 16 are obese. Parents who cannot put their
children on a strict diet resort to sports and games to burn fat. With
cases of child diabetes on the increase, this has become a prime focus of
many after school programs.
A good after school program has many benefits. It keeps the child
entertained as well as busy, and thus prevents children from becoming
addicted to TVs and PCs. By giving them ways to burn up their excess energy
and explore their creativity, after school programs help to shape the
overall personality of the child.
Art-based activities
A recent report by several independent researchers concludes that
participating in the arts nurtures the development of social, personal and
cognitive skills. Programs based on Arts can improve academic achievement
and decrease the tendency towards delinquency. It helps youth form
positive attitudes about themselves and build self-esteem.
Arts programs involve communication, interpretation and understanding of
complex symbols, much like mathematics and languages. Thus it fosters
higher-order analytical skills and skills of evaluation and synthesis.
Many of the programs make the child regularly use multiple skills thus
making him dynamic and versatile.
Development of imagination, judgment and philosophy are fringe benefits of
an arts-based activity. As opposed to the short 45-minute duration of the
art classes at school, the extra time allowed in after school activities
allows the child to get more involved. This results in more satisfactory
opportunities for development of latent capabilities in the child. In
turn, the child learns to set high standards of achievement. He
understands what sustained focus is and learns that regular practice is
the way to excellence.
In the shy or the withdrawn child, theatre, speech or drama lessons may be
an outlet for pent up emotions. As drama entails getting into the ‘skin’
of another person, the child learns to verbalize emotions and express
thoughts. These reasons account for the popularity of arts-based
activities.
After school activities and burnout
For millions of parents around the world, the day does not end with the school bell. There are still pictures to be painted, songs to be sung and games to be played. This all adds up to keeping children happy, safe and out of trouble. But, parents have to steer away from going overboard.
After school is not baby-sitting:
After school activities thrive only if it is backed by sufficient parental involvement. What would a soccer match be without parents cheering their little heroes from the sidelines?.
Research and choose:
Instead of convenience being the decisive factor, find out things that will interest your child. Once you select a program, get the fine print and find out what you have to contribute.
Free time:
Many children attend piano classes, followed by ballet and squeeze in some time for play dates in between just before they rush home in time for bed. This rigor is too much for a child. So, go slow.
When to quit:
Often, parents enroll their child in an activity to discover that he may not be the prodigy they thought he would be. This is the time to let go. Your child may not become the next wonder-kid. But, let him cultivate an interest that he enjoys. Remember, happiness and fulfillment are all that matter.
