Clearing limiting beliefs for your success

Launched into door to door preaching and sales of religious publications at the age of 6, Jan Janzen spent 38 years as a Jehovah’s Witness!

But in 1999, she walked away from a religion she had known all her life and lost almost everything - friends, most of her family and her husband of 18 years. No longer feeling comfortable “being in the box” of the religion, she escaped the confines by literally moving to an island and cutting off all connection with her past.

Jan Janzen

Jan Janzen

Now that Jan was “out” she realized she needed to learn the very basic things most Western society take for granted, including how to celebrate her first birthday and Christmas at 40 years old and what new beliefs she needed to develop in order to function alone in an entirely new society. Everything in her life was now in question - from blood transfusions to sex.

Jan knows what it takes to sell (she purchased her first Molly Maid franchise at the age of 19) so she threw herself into business. Nominated as one of the “most influential women in business in Vancouver, in 2003, Jan began one of the fastest growing networking organizations for women.

In May 2004 she became ordained as a non-denominational minister and after completing her studies with Religious Science, she spent 8 weeks volunteering in South Africa. After a strong gift of healing showed up in 2005, Jan helped clear her business coaching clients of the emotional and limiting blocks that were holding them back in their business. Her healing business, booked solid weeks in advance, was built entirely by referral.

“You can only grow professionally as much as you are willing to grow personally.”
- Jan Janzen

Jan´s latest book, Getting Off the Merry-Go-Round: How to Create the Life You Want Without the Fear, Doubt and Guilt was released in late 2008 and chronicles Jan´s journey from almost bankrupt, homeless and divorced to the amazing life she lives in abundance today.

Getting Off The Merry-Go-Round By Jan Janzen

Jan’s story is amazing! I have learned a lot from Jan’s Book Getting Off the Merry-Go-Round. Jan’s book made me rethink my own beliefs, revisit past issues in my life and finally feel that I can make my own decision that was right for me. I finally understood some of the issues I was facing, and I am working on them each and every day thanks to Jan’s book. This is not one of those “read fast” and put it away types of self-help books, this is one you will want to keep on your bookshelf and re-read it often.

It is such an inspiration to hear other’s stories and learn from them, Jan’s story is one that I will remember for a long time to come!

The Worrywarts Companion Twenty-One Ways to Soothe Yourself and Worry Smart

August 23, 2009 by Rebbekah

Rescheduled due to technical problems with BTR.

Worry Begets More Worry -The job of worry is to anticipate possible perils, to come up with ways to deal with them, and to rehearse what you will do if the danger does arise. The dilemma is that once you start to worry about your shrinking 401K or if you’ll have a job next month, worry begets more worry, setting into motion a vicious cycle of frightening thoughts and anxious responses—worrywarting—out of control worrying. Worrywarts get stuck in identifying danger as they immerse themselves in the dread associated with the threat, spinning out an endless loop of scary situations, paralyzing themselves by blowing everything out of proportion.

Don’t try to stop worrying, advises Dr. Beverly Potter, author of  The Worrywart’s Companion -21 Ways to Soothe Yourself and Worry Smart, (McGraw Hill, September 2008). Worry itself, is not good or bad, she says. Everyone worries. Worrying is a survival skill because it helps us to identify and prepare for dangers. The problem is that once started, worrying is difficult to control. Allowed to continue unchecked, chronic worry can evolve into panic attacks and, in extreme cases, agoraphobia, which is a paralyzing fear of having a panic attack, especially in public. It can be so severe that, in the worst cases, the sufferer can’t leave home.

Worry Warting seems to be abound in our world today with job losses, a slow economy, stress from bills, and just the everyday “worries” that we all seem to go through.

The Pain and Ultimate Joy of Late Blooming - the pain of not bringing forth what is in you and the joy of finally fulfilling your potential, no matter when. Societal and psychological contributing factors - e.g. women often put others first, don’t compete, lack self-confidence, are taught not to be aggressive or “selfish”.

Not achieving in our society can lead to shame and inadequacy. Not bringing out one’s gift can even lead to illness.

The Tale of Death Told Through the Eyes of the Survivor

May 22, 2009 by Rebbekah
Filed under New Shows, Personal Growth

We’ve all heard of various killers some famous, some made up characters from stories, while others still walk the earth killing more victims for their guilty pleasure. But, this killer was one of the most creative types, his name sets the perfect crime scene for anyone to follow-up on, this killer was known only as the Zodiac.

But the Zodiac didn’t always having a killing side to him, he had a family and a beloved daughter to call his own, and her name is “Deborah Perez”, and she is about to untangle the mystery behind the killer who turned out to be her father. Today is Mz. Perez’s first interview since confessing to the authorities.

Deborah Perez

Deborah Perez

Deborah Perez was watching “America’s Most Wanted” in 2007 when she saw a picture of a man who looked just like her adoptive father… but on TV he was referred to as: The Zodiac Killer. After many sessions with Dr. Jack Singer and her faith in God, Deborah has decided to share her story so that she may help to heal families of both victims and relatives of serial killers.

Deborah is a mother of 5 and a real estate agent. Despite being abandoned by her birth father, Deborah went on to have what she thought was a “normal middle-American life”… until memories and clues started to haunt her. From there she “dug deep within” and began to heal. Deborah’s journey with Dr. Jack Singer from realization to acceptance is phenomenal!

Deborah’s story takes the meaning of heal yourself to a whole new level. Deborah truly has an amazing journey of healing to share… and for all the right reasons: herself, her family, others, and her conviction of right and wrong based on her faith in God.

Dr. Jack Singer

Dr. Jack Singer

Dr. Jack Singer, Deborah’s psychologist is also on the show with us today. Ms. Perez gave Dr. Jack a signed release to discuss details of her case with the media, in order to help her get the truth out so that the victims’ families can finally find closure.

This is a topic that has never been on Heal Yourself Talk Radio before but it is a story that needs to be heard whether you believe her tale or not I do ask everyone to listen to Deborah and Dr. Singer with an open mind and an open heart.

Questions answered:

(Dr. Jack Singer)

  • How does anyone know that Deborah is not delusional?
  • How do we know that she is not someone who fabricated this story to get attention?
  • What was the reason Deborah came to you in the first place?
  • People lock up memories from their childhood that were harmful to their emotional and mental well being, Dr. Singer do you believe this is what happened to Deborah?

(Deborah Perez)

  • What was the turning point in your life that you realized that The Zodiac Killer was your father?
  • Emotions felt, how did you deal with those emotions, were you in denial?
  • What was your reason for going public with this information instead of taking it to the authorities first?
  • How were you able to accept the two sides of your father?

Many more questions are answered during this hour long interview with both Deborah Perez and Dr. Jack Singer, be sure to listen to the whole show. Please feel free to post questions for either Deborah or Dr. Singer and I will tell them when these are posted.

Should anyone be listening who are in need of help? Or are having dreams that they are not sure or have questions for Dr. Jack Singer please feel free to contact him from his website at http://www.askdrjack.com

UPDATE: Press Release sent to Heal Yourself Talk Radio on Tuesday June 9, 2009

PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DAUGHTER OF THE ZODIAC KILLER TO BE QUESTIONED BY THE SFPD

Investigative Reporter/Journalist Larry Garrison Comes Forward to Support the Evidence that Guy Hendrickson is the Zodiac Killer

Los Angeles - (6/9/09)- For the first time in twenty-five years, the San Francisco Police Department will call in a key potential witness for questioning which could finally identify the Zodiac Killer officially.  Deborah Perez has been called in by Lt. Michael Staskos Badge (No. 724) of the SFPD Homicide Unit.   Her date to appear is June 17, 2009. She will be questioned about her father, Guy Ward Hendrickson. Some of the nations top forensic experts have endorsed the handwriting, psychological, and DNA evidence showing Perez’s participation in the infamous Zodiac Killings. All of this evidence was recently turned over to Lt. Staskos SFPD.

Deborah Perez  was seven years old at the time she became his innocent sidekick.  She unknowingly witnessed the crimes of the century. Deborah became aware of her father’s involvement in the Zodiac murders after viewing a segment of “America’s Most Wanted” with a composite that  strikingly resembled her father. This past April 29th, she came forward with a press conference at the San Francisco Chronicle.  The glasses which she handed over to Lt. Michael Staskos on May 7, 2009, currently held in evidence by San Francisco Police Department, will be part of the DNA proof needed.  Deborah Perez feels she,  “..owes it to the families of the victims to put this case to rest.” Though others have come forward, no one has been able to substantiate a claim as Deborah has achieved with eye witness testimony, forensic and DNA evidence. She is also the only witness ever endorsed by former law members of famed attorney Melvin M. Belli, who the Zodiac contacted.

Larry Garrison, President of SilverCreek Entertainment, an Investigative Reporter/Journalist has just come on board to support Deborah Perez. After his own investigations  Garrison verified the evidence including handwriting analysis reports of Perez with professionals.  Garrison has been shown that “Deborah, in fact, wrote those letters and her DNA will be on at least one of the envelopes.” Attorney’s from the Belli office have also confirmed that Deborah was in fact the child who accompanied her Father, Guy Ward Hendrickson to Mr. Melvin Belli’s office.  Larry Garrison states “The proof will be in the forensic evidence and DNA , once Deborah has her chance to have it analyzed.”  Contact Larry Garrison  805-370-3630.

Emotional Freedom by Dr. Judith Orloff

Emotional Freedom by Dr. Judith Orloff

Dr. Judith Orloff’s book “Emotional Freedom-Liberate Yourself From Negative Emotions and Transform Your Life” is exceptional! Today we are facing trials and tribulations that are testing all of us, help is here if you are facing an emotional breakdown! “Emotional Freedom” is indeed one book that you need to add to your library and keep as a handy reference.

Over the past few years I have gone through several layers of emotions and have been desperately trying to free myself from the repercussions of past events in my life. After reading Dr. Orloff’s book it brought great insights into how I could heal myself and move past the energy draining emotions from a very powerful “Emotional Vampire”.  While I had heard this term before I was not really sure how to deal with those feelings or how to deal with this emotional vampire so I could move on.

Dr. Orloff explains in her book about the 5 different types of emotional vampires and the best way to deal with them plus how to protect yourself from future attacks.

The book also brought to my attention how I am at times an emotional vampire myself, something I had never honestly thought about. By familiarizing myself with each type I am better able to stop myself from becoming one of those people that others want to stay away from.

I highly recommend “Emotional Freedom” to anyone who is looking to heal their lives from the inside out! There is so much information that is relavent to each and everyone of us in this book, I do believe that if more people read this book and became aware of how our own emotions affect others the world would be a better place.”

How healing yourself helps your business-my own truth

April 27, 2009 by Rebbekah

I wonder how many of you realize just how much your personal life and health affects your business?

I know when I first started on my journey towards healing my mind, body and spirit it was an enlightening experience. I really didn’t think about how I felt personally affected my business. You see three years ago I was in a really bad spot in my life. I was over stressed, falling into a deep crevice of depression and honestly wanted to end my own life because I was tired of facing issues and all the stress that was in my life at that time.

It is hard to admit that to my listeners because many of them are friends and family and many of them didn’t realize how bad it had gotten at that time in my life. I was raised to always look to God for help yet at that time in my life I didn’t think God could help, I was too far gone into my depression. There were days I walked around in a daze and honestly didn’t realize how far down I had gotten…

During that time I met two wonderful woman who helped me see that I was needed here on earth…I know for a fact that had friends or family told me the same thing I would not have listened.  I have talked several times about Kim Emerson who is a dear friend who helped me from getting in my car and driving to the local quarry to end my life…I don’t know what happened that morning I was in such a bad state that was all that was in my mind. I was tired of struggling, I was tired of facing the pressure in my personal life.  Thank God a good friend online Ginger Marks had called up Kim to talk to me. Kim has helped me so much over the last several years that I owe a lot to her.

The other wonderful woman who helped me was Denise Michaels author of Testoterone Free Marketing, Denise came into my life about 6 months later and was another instrument in my life on my own healing journey. She helped me see that all the issues I was trying to heal in my personal life also needed attention in my business life. Because I was still healing from low self esteem and pressure I was backing down from things in my business life that I should not have been backing down from. Denise was also instrumental in showing me how a flu or a sore throat really meant I was dealing with something subconscious in my life. By learning this and finding out what these things meant I was able to in turn learn how to deal with those issues and move on both in my personal life as well as my business life.

Today’s show I interview Denise Michaels about learning to heal your personal life also helps propel your business as well.  I must admit, as my mother will attest, I am a very stubborn person! I always think I can do it all on my own and it took me years-16 years to be honest-to open up to my own healing and admit I cannot do it all on my own.  By facing issues that kept popping up in my life and realizing that I could seek out support and not look weak I have been able to heal myself from many illnesses in my life.

The biggest example was my Bell’s Palsy attack in January of this year. The episodes actually all started back in October when I faced a situation that I thought would never happen. Friends turned on me, I had a couple people out there spreading lies about myself and my business…that hurt the worst because I have always prided myself on being an ethical business person and to have people who knew me for years turn their back on me and not even give me a chance to defend myself HURT! It was a betrayal, yet instead of facing the anger and the hurt I buried it! I didn’t confront those who were hurting me and spreading these lies. I didn’t face the fact that their lies lost me several clients from not only my graphics and blog design business but also some great speakers that I had come to view as online friends….I buried that feeling and kept going on. I hate confrontation and they knew this! But because of not expressing my anger even in private,  I was hospitalized in January after months of failing health issues, for Bell’s Palsy.

When I was released from the hospital 2 days later I went home and read what Bell’s Palsy meant in You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay (a book Denise had told me I should get 2 years before) it hit home HARD when I read what it Bell’s Palsy meant:

Bell’s Palsy-”Extreme control over anger. Unwillingness to express feelings.”

I had held those feelings of anger, and hurt for far too long and they manifested not only in my physical being, my spiritual being but also in my business….

I know this is a long post to do an introduction to Denise’s interview but I had to share with you all the behind the story of why Denise is on HYTR talking about how healing yourself will help your business…

Thank you to all who over the years have stood by me and have supported not only myself and my personal health but my mental health as well without you I know Heal Yourself Talk Radio would not be here today!

“Simply a Woman of Faith-How to Live in Spiritual Power and Transform Your Life” with author Pat Hastings.

Are you wondering where God is in your life?

Are you looking for God in your daily life, looking for miracles, looking for a sign that God is there for you?

Pat Hasting’s book is simply the best motivational and spiritual book I have read in a long time. Her stories of how finding things she needed at garage sales by asking God for help: for instance her husband was out of work and he had a job interview and needed a size 12D wing tip shoes-not a common yard sale item.  God answered her prayers and she was able to find the shoes her husband needed to a job interview.

Her book is filled with so many inspirational and wonderful stories about miracles and how God does provide or lead you to where you need to go, it filled my heart with joy last night as I was reading and made me start to really think again where those “instincts” come from.

How writing changed one woman’s life

For over 12 years Yolanda Jackson found herself being shipped from one foster home to another. During this time she wrote to help her deal with her life. She got out of foster care at age 17 and became a medical transcriptionist and now writes for a living.

Yolanda during the interview talks about how at age 17 she was let out of the foster care system and literally walked out of the court house with no where to go. How she struggle for many years working 3 jobs just to make it and having never really been alone felt she needed to keep busy hence so many jobs at once, she was afraid to be alone in her first apartment.

From high school Yolanda always had the dream to become a writer, she didn’t have parents who supported her dreams and many times neither did her teachers. But that didn’t stop Yolanda from reaching for her dreams!

Writing eased her pain of moving from one foster home to another or one group home to another. Everytime she moved she tried to write a novel to help her cope with her new hom, and because of this she became more involved in writing and she began to image places that only exist in fantasy or animals that only inhibit one’s imagination.

She published her first book “Peter Carrot-Top In Search of the 8th Key” in December of 2008 and her goal is to keep writing for children of the world to show them that they can do anything they can put their mind to and to keep using their imagaination to dream and to dream big.

NOTE FROM ADMIN: After interviewing Yolanda it is my honest opinion that Yolanda may be the next J.K Rowling. Yolanda is very passionate about her work, and for someone to have gone through what she went through and still follow her dreams there is no stopping this lady! Yolanda is a wonderful woman and I wish her all the luck and success to her!

You can purchase Yolanda’s book “Peter Carrot-Top In Search of the 8th Key” through Amazon.com, BarnesAndNoble.com or any other online bookstore.

Spirituality for Extroverts

December 18, 2008 by Rebbekah
Filed under Personal Growth, Shows, Spirituality

(And Tips for Those Who Love Them) by Dr. Nancy Reeves

Nancy Reeves, Ph.D. is a registered clinical psychologist, spiritual director, and author, who has specialized in the area of trauma, grief and loss with adults and children since 1978. She also conducts workshops and retreats in the area of spirituality. She is internationally respected as a workshop facilitator, psychotherapist, author, and poet.  In her clinical practice she works with individuals, families, groups, and in trauma recovery sessions after community disasters.

Dr. Nancy Reeves

Dr. Nancy Reeves

Does prayer have to be silent? Does meditation have to be solemn? If I’m an extrovert, can I worship God? In this groundbreaking book, psychologist and spiritual adviser Nancy Reeves presents a refreshing view of spirituality that goes beyond personality to provide extroverts (and those who love them) with exciting new ways of approaching God.

Have you ever wondered how you can be spiritual if you are an extrovert? Or do you love an extrovert and wonder how to support they way they worship?

Not everyone worships or shows spirituality like everyone else.  There are the people who like to go to church and sit in the pews or join in the choir and there is nothing wrong with that.  Yet there are others who still worship God by not going to church.  They feel more spiritual and in connection with God right in their own home or outside in nature.  So how do you get along if you are in introvert and do things the way most people do by going to church when you are in love with someone that is an extrovert and feels more in tune with worshipping at home or out in nature?

Nancy Reeves book “Spirituality for Extroverts” is there to help all of us!  I know I learned a lot about myself reading the book.  I am one of those people who would much rather worship at home in my own yard, and feel more in tune with God sitting in nature and studying.  While my husband doesn’t feel like he is worshipping unless we are in a church pew.  I don’t mind either, but honestly I have always felt closer to God in nature.

For a long time I thought I was “bad” or I was doing something wrong, but Nancy helped me see that it is ok to worship the way I feel is right for “ME” and my husband to worship what feels right to him.  Her book helped both of us better understand each other better :)

Reeves explores a wide variety of spiritual practices for extroverts, including:

  • Praying in motion
  • Singing
  • Cultivating spiritual friendships
  • Practicing spirituality in groups

The No Complaining Rule

On October 31 Jon Gordon author of The Energy Bus and The No Complaining Rule was on our WBNW 1120 AM Boston Radio show talking about his new book “The No Complaining Rule“.

Have you ever noticed how often you complain?  I don’t mean the legit complaints that once you say them you can give an honest solution but the complaints that just fly out of your mouth that honestly didn’t need to happen?

Lately I had been surrounded by people who all they did was complain, and it started rubbing off on me…I hated how it made me feel, to be honest like I say on the interview at first I didn’t realize it had rubbbed off on me till an incident happened that made me stop and look back over the past 2-3 months.

Jon is very straight forward and down to earth and his book is written like a fiction book but is actually based on a real company.

About The No Complaining Rule

The No Complaining Rule by Jon Gordon

As head of Human Resources, Hope is charged with finding a solution to overcome the biggest challenge in her company’s history. In the process of battling her own adversity she discovers The No Complaining Rule and other positive ways to save her company and herself from ruin.”

In the spirit of his international best selling book, The Energy Bus, Jon Gordon once again shares an inspiring and enlightening story that reveals a powerful way to tackle the biggest problem in business and life today… negativity. Law of Attraction getting what you ask for

Get a FREE authentic Astrology Report

This past week I realized just how powerful the Law of Attraction really is. Last weekend I decided I no longer wanted to be surrounded by negativity and people who are negative as it was starting to effect my life in ways that I could no longer handle.

Negativity no matter where it comes from does affect how we live our daily lives, from the negative news to the negative campaign ads, to people we work with and live with.  Once I decided I no longer wanted to be around negative influences, things started to happen that honestly I didn’t even realize what was happening till a couple days later.  People started to fall away in my business life and changes started to happen in my personal life.  While one instance this week I can honestly say I did not handle it well, for that I can just say “Lesson learned….need to learn to think before I speak” and while this was a life lesson for me in how fast the law of attraction can happen when you decide to take action…it was out of left field and took me completely by surprise and to be honest something I didn’t want to happen and wish I could change but that is not up to me to change.

The major lesson I learned this week is that everything happens for a reason whether we want to believe that or not, and that what you want if you are not careful will happen AND it can come completely out of the blue!

I have been studying the law of attraction for a couple years, and during this time I have learned also that when you think negative those things will happen to you as well.  When you wake up and start complaining about people in your life, about how they act and how you think the day is already starting guess what?  They will happen!  For instance this week I was complaining about someone and wished I could have just a couple days reprieve from this person’s negative influences, now I was complaining in my own mind but still I was complaining and my subsconscious heard this and things changed!  Not in a good way either, the more I thought about what was happening and how all this negative influence was making my life miserable the more upset I got, the more I was sending out negative vibrations.

So why do I tell you this story to show that when you are not in control of your thoughts, your emotions the law of attraction, the universe however you want to state it will answer your thoughts and not always with your best intentions involved.

So be careful what you think about, what you wish for and BE SURE you know what you are asking for.  Be focused on the positive and what you want in your life!

This leads me to our guest at the bottom of the hour Liz Pagayonan who is a scrapbooker.  She found out that while she was using scrapbooking to create memories of her children how focused she become on the happy times in her life and how it changed her whole outlook on things.  So she took what she herself learned and is now teaching others how to use scrapbooking to create your purpose, to be more focused.

Scrapbooking Your Intentions Using The Law of Attraction

Scrap-booking Your Intentions Using The Law of Attraction

I know in the show I talk a little about how I created a vision board, now I have created a vision board before but didn’t really get into it till the last one I created.  I went to our local craft store and bought a bunch of scrapbook stickers, embellishements, papers etc to create my vision board.  I really got into it!  My first intention was to get onto WBNW 1120 am Boston Radio and the Dream Visions 7 Radio network, I focused so hard on that intention while creating my vision board that it came true 3 days later! NOW I had to put action behind this vision BUT by creating the vision board using fun things, photos, scrapbooking materials and creating it for ME when I started putting action behind my plans to be on WBNW 1120 am radio they came true faster than if I had just “wished it”.

Liz has created a DVD that will show you how to focus on your goals, intentions and your purpose in life by using scrapbooking.  Listen in to the show as I share more about my thoughts on this past week and listen as Liz describes more about using scrapbooking to accomplish your goals!

On Liz’s site I found this:

Scrapbooking positively formed thoughts with focused intention, instantly rewrites and deeply imbeds the new way of thinking as the dominate thought. This means that you can instantly begin to experience the benefit or essence of your new way of thinking. Scrapbooking makes it EASY and FUN to completely transform any area of your life!

All I can say is give it a try! It worked for me…it really helped me to focus on what I want in my life.

Follow Your Dreams with UFC fighter Brent “The Reaper” Medley

October 15, 2008 by Rebbekah
Filed under Follow Your Dreams, Inspiration, Shows

It is my honor and pleasure to talk to Brent “The Reaper” Medley today on Heal Yourself Talk Radio. While many of my listeners are wondering why I am interviewing a UFC fighter on HYTR, there is a reason :). Brent faced many changes in his life to follow his dreams of being a UFC fight, from starting out at age 18 then moving back to his home town of Amarillo, TX to going through a long term relationship and being very successful at a career after leaving the UFC, to deciding that this was not what he wanted.  Brent decided to contact his good friend Evan Tanner and get back into the UFC with his comeback fight this Thursday October 16, 2008 in California.

During the show we discuss his first years in the UFC, the years in between UFC and deciding to go back and his special relationship with mentor and friend Evan Tanner who passed away on September 8, 2008.

More about Brent “The Reaper” Medley

A few years ago when Brent was first in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) things did not turn out the way he imagined….. so he moved back to Texas….. Amarillo to be exact. His family is there. In a committed relationship, he had a little girl, and was leading a good life in business making a good living. But the unfulfilled dream of becoming a successful UFC Fighter nagged at him continuously.

After prompting from his good friend Evan Tanner who was already leading the fighter’s life in Las Vegas, Brent returned to the octagon. He moved himself and his burning desire back to Las Vegas, and moved in with Evan where he started training and living the fighter’s life once again, leaving behind the good life in Texas for an uncertain future in the octagon of Las Vegas.

His comeback fight is this Thursday. Physically he’s in the best shape to move forward as a success in UFC.

NOTE FROM HYTR: Audio Acrobat’s players no longer work with the new updated word press, so we can no longer offer the player to listen from the site, we apologize for this inconvience.  However all downloads are safe and virus free. Thank you for your understanding.

What is Cuddle Party & How to Overcome Panic Attacks and Depression

From 2:00-2:30 Edie Weinstein-Moser will be on talking about Cuddle Party -a fun, playful and empowering workshop. From 2:30-3:00 we have Rose Van Sickle on talking about overcoming panic attacks and depression.

Edie Weinstein-Moser is a Renaissance Woman whose work and play are one and the same: free-lance journalist, speaker, workshop facilitator, interfaith minister, licensed social worker, therapist and creative guide. as well as massage/energy worker. She touches hearts and lives by enouraging people to ‘live juicy’; bringing color, creativity and passion into their days . One of her greatest joys is offering a life changing communication and boundary setting workshop, cleverly disguised as a nurturturing touch workshop, called Cuddle Party. Edie is one of (at this point) 42 people world wide, certified to teach this fun, playful and empowering workshop. In addition, she is a member of Team Goddess; who co-facilitate an annual Goddess Retreat, dedicated to helping other women see the beauty and wisdom within themselves.

What a Cuddle Party Is: A structured, safe workshop on boundaries, communication, intimacy and affection. A drug and alcohol-free way to meet fascinating people in a relaxing environment. A laboratory where you can experiment with what makes you feel safe and feel good.

Cuddle Party

Cuddle Party

This playful, fun workshop has been a place for people to rediscover non-sexual touch and affection, a space to reframe assumptions about men and women, and a great networking event to meet new friends, roommates, business partners and significant others.

Can Cuddle Party restore your faith in humanity? It just might. But at the very least, you’ll have a great time, and leave feeling relaxed and inspired.

How Lupus Saved My Life

Diane Tegarden wasn’t a full time writer until she was stricken down with lupus and had to close her company and stop working full time. What could have been a crippling end to a productive life was at first a blow Diane didn’t think she’d overcome. Then, after struggling several years with lupus, she found that an organic diet and lifestyle helped to partially restore her energy level and health, so that she could start to think about working again.

That’s when Diane decided to do what she’d always wanted to do. At first, she felt she couldn’t justify letting someone else support her while she launched her new career at the ripe young age of 48!! Then Diane just allowed it to happen, and it’s wonderful beyond words.

Join us for a touching hour of Talk Radio!

Rebbekah will share her daily struggles with Lupus as well, while she doesn’t talk very often about her struggle with Lupus on today’s show she will discuss the many aspects of dealing with an auto immune disease.

“Lupus is a hard disease to diagnose, through so many tests coming back with either a yes or no so many times the doctors finally said this is what you have, although we are not sure.  The only thing I have come to rely on is how I feel day to day.  There are many days I need to lay down for a couple naps to get my energy back.  I have begun to take better care of myself, by starting to eat more organic foods, listening to my body when I need rest and basically scheduling my day around how I feel.

Many of my clients are not aware that I am “ill” and to me that is a good thing.  I am a strong woman and while I have many daily ups and downs what keeps me going is my family, my friends and my clients. So while I do discuss having LUPUS on HYTR, please do not change your opinion of me or how I am able to handle clients etc ….I have learned that if there is a will there is a way.  Hence why some days you will see me online late at night those were the days I needed to lay down in the afternoons.  Being able to run a business from home has been a blessing.  I am better able to schedule my hours around my body, rest and still give 100% to my clients and my radio show.” -Rebbekah White

What is Lupus?

Lupus is an autoimmune disease, which means that the body’s natural defense system (immune system) attacks its own tissues instead of attacking foreign substances like bacteria and viruses. This causes inflammation. Inflammation causes swelling, pain, and tissue damage throughout the body. If you develop severe lupus, you may have problems with your kidneys, heart, lungs, nervous system, or blood cells. Lupus is the common name for systemic lupus erythematosus, also called SLE.

Although some people with lupus have only mild symptoms, the disease is lifelong and can become severe. But most people can control their symptoms and prevent severe damage to their organs. They do this by seeing their doctors often for checkups, getting enough rest and exercise, and taking medicines.

This topic focuses on systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), the most common and most serious type of lupus. But there are four other types of lupus: discoid or cutaneous lupus, drug-induced systemic lupus, neonatal lupus, and subacute cutaneous lupus.

What causes lupus?

The exact cause of lupus is not known. Experts believe that some people are born with certain genes that affect how the immune system works and that they are more likely to get lupus. Then a number of other factors can trigger lupus attacks. These include viral infections, including the virus that causes mononucleosis, and sunlight.

Although these things can trigger lupus, they may affect one person but not another person.

What are the symptoms?

Lupus symptoms vary widely, and they come and go. The times when symptoms get worse are called relapses, or flares. The times when symptoms are not so bad are called remissions.

Common symptoms include feeling very tired and having joint pain or swelling (arthritis), a fever, and a skin rash Click here to see an illustration.. The rash often happens after you have been in the sun. Mouth sores and hair loss may occur. Over time, some people with lupus have problems with the heart, lungs, kidneys, blood cells, or nervous system.

How is lupus diagnosed?

There is no single test for lupus. Because lupus affects different people in different ways, it can be hard to diagnose.

Your doctor will check for lupus by asking you questions, looking for common symptoms, and doing some blood tests. It is easier for your doctor to diagnose lupus if you have the most common symptoms and your blood has certain proteins. These proteins are called antinuclear antibodies, or ANAs. But other problems can cause your body to make ANAs, so doctors will use blood tests and other tests to find out if you have lupus.

How is it treated?

Lupus is treated by:

  • Applying corticosteroid cream for rashes.
  • Taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for mild joint or muscle pain and fever.
  • Taking antimalarial medicines to treat fatigue, joint pain, skin rashes, and lung inflammation.
  • Taking low-dose corticosteroids if other medicines are not controlling your symptoms.

Because corticosteroids are powerful medicines and can cause serious side effects, the doctor will recommend the lowest dose that will give the most benefit.

The doctor may also recommend other medicines that slow down the immune system.

How can you manage lupus?

One of the goals of controlling mild to moderate lupus symptoms is to prevent flares, the times when your symptoms are worse. Some of the other things you can do include:

  • Rest to reduce stress.
  • Avoid the sun. Wear sunscreen and protective clothing when you are outside.
  • Exercise regularly to prevent fatigue and joint stiffness.
  • Stop smoking.
  • Learn the warning signs of a symptoms flare, such as fatigue, pain, and rash, and take steps to control them.

With good self-care, most people with lupus can keep doing their regular daily activities.

It is important to learn about lupus so that you can understand how it might affect your life and how you can best cope with it. Also, help your family and friends understand your limitations and needs when your symptoms flare. Develop a support system of family, friends, and health professionals.
