Female Cancers-signs, symptoms and where to find help

Friday January 16, 2009-Dreamvisions 7 Radio and WBNW 1120 AM Show 1:00-2:00 pm est

I felt led to do a show this week on Female cancers.  I was updating my Heal Yourself Magazine site with information on cancer for women and updating the videos and articles from Fran Drescher’s organization  CancerSchmancer.org. While I was updating it I realized that much of the information about signs and symptoms I found I didn’t know myself and felt led to do a show on female cancers.

During the show Maureen from New Jersey called in to tell me about her cancer experience when she was pregnant.  The story that Maureen shares is both a story of courage and strength and how she went through saving her baby who was born a healthy 9+ pounds and how now she is wanting to be a help to other women who are going through the same thing. Maureen wanted to me to post a website and organization that helped her through this time in her life Pregnant with Cancer Network.

“They provided me with someone who went through similar experiences that I was going through and my “buddy” was able to give me insight and information that only someone else who has/is experiencing what you are experiencing can do.”-Maureen

During the show I read an email sent from a listener who could not come on the show.

Towards the end of the show I give a list of symptoms to look out for from several different female cancers.  Like I stated on the show, while many of the signs and symptoms may suggest cancer many times these symptoms also mean something else is going on. So I encourage you before you panic should you display any of the signs or symptoms to call your doctor for an appointment first.

For more information I posted some articles and cheat sheets on Heal Yourself Magazine

Cancer Support Groups and how to find them…

If you have cancer or you know someone who does and are looking for support I found a few websites online that I feel will be a good way for you to find a support group in your area, I have never been to these groups or websites and I am not being paid to write about the groups below. These are just a few of the many cancer support groups I found online and felt they needed to be posted on this page.

Cancer Buddies Network

A Single Light

Cancer.gov

Article about finding a good cancer support group from About.com

The Wellness Community

There are many, many more cancer support groups across the nation and world. The best way to find a group in your local area is to do a google search with terms like “your city, cancer support groups” in the search box.

All supporters who donate $5.00 will have their website links added to our Recommended Links section on HYTR & HY Magazine plus a special thank you will be sent out to our newsletter as our way of thanking you. Thank you again for all your love and support.

  1. I think this show is going to help cancer victims and survivors so much. Thanks you for posting it. Cancer is something that we almost all have a tie to and by having places to go to for support and help, we don’t have to feel like we are alone in this fight.
