Raw Organic Juices and Smoothies

One way to help attain and maintain optimal health is by supplementing your dietary intake with fresh juice extracted from raw fruits and vegetables. There are two ways of doing this: Juicing and Blending. While both of these techniques use whole raw fruits and vegetables, there is also a big difference between the two. When you’re juicing, the liquid from the fruits and vegetables is being squeezed out and separated from the pulp or the fiber, leaving only the liquid to consume. The remaining pulp then can be used to create some amazing dishes. (There is little to no waste with raw food. Almost everything can be reused to create something new and amazing!) By separating the juice from the fiber we are able to get more of the nutrients of the food. Our bodies are able to assimilate those nutrients far faster, thus allowing our digestive systems to have a much needed rest! When we eat food, as opposed to juicing, it takes an enormous amount of resources and energy from our bodies to digest that food. When we juice, we’re allowing our bodies to work less and use that reserved energy to heal and maintain our body’s health. Raw juices, unlike bottled juices, are entirely whole-food based. They are loaded with high amounts of oxygen, enzymes, minerals and vitamins - not to mention the medicinal effects of the antioxidants, chlorophyll and phytochemicals they contain. Fresh juice is like a liquid vitamin supplement. It hits the body fast! It provides the body with greater energy and faster recovery from illness and juicing actually slows the aging process! Forget botox, just juice! All of these substances found in raw organic whole juices work synergistically in our bodies to create some amazing healing miracles, even some that science has yet to understand. When juicing, always drink your juice right away. Because juices are live foods, they will oxidate quickly and lose their enzymatic effect if not digested within the first 20 to 30 minutes of the juicing process. So, if you have juices left over and refrigerate it, know that it may still taste pleasant but it no longer has the same healing benefits that in did when it was originally made. When preparing your green juices a good rule of thumb is to use only 1 part green vegetables to 3 parts carrot, apple or beet. This sweeter base makes the drink far more palatable.
One painless way to get started juicing or blending is to replace one meal a day with a delicious whole food juice or smoothie. Some people find that they get a greater cleansing effect by choosing one day a week when they only drink juices or smoothies. I personally juice every morning and also pick one day per week when I drink nothing but fresh juices.
When juicing keep in mind some the therapeutic and cleansing effects of the following fruits and vegetables.
- Apples help to detoxify the blood. They are a fantastic digestive aid and they also act as a laxative.
- Beets are amazingly cleansing to the liver. They also stimulate bowel movements and are very high in iron content.
- Carrots are very alkalinizing to our bodies. They are a great source of vitamins A, B, C, D, E and K.
- Celery is very high in organic sodium. This makes them a great thirst quencher. Celery is also known for it calming effects; it’s great for our nerves.
- Kale is cleansing to our kidneys, super high in chlorophyll and is loaded with protein and calcium.
When blending or making smoothies, as opposed to juicing, the pulp or fiber still remains a part of the final product. In that way, smoothies truly are a meal and have some amazing health benefits. A big plus for smoothies is that any food can be blended into a creamy texture. Anything! This makes it perfect for someone with dental or digestive problems and ideal for babies. Smoothies are a phenomenal way to transition into a healthier lifestyle. Whether you are completely raw, vegan, vegetarian, or even carnivore, you will be amazed at the immediate health benefits of smoothies. I highly recommend smoothies to those who are just learning how to incorporate raw foods into their lifestyle. They should be a part of your daily routine. Blended drinks are also a fantastic way for kids and adults to get an amazing amount of vitamins and nutrients all while having something that appeals to their sense of fun. There are some incredible recipes for smoothies that will have your kids and YOU thinking they’re chugging down a dessert rather then something that is actually amazingly healthy for them! I can see it now - they’ll be rolling their eyes in pure delight thinking that, somehow, mommy or daddy has lost their mind to be serving this for breakfast, lunch or even dinner!
However, not all smoothies are created equal.
So what’s the difference between smoothies available for purchase in some of those popular local chains and those that I’m referring to here? Plenty! Unfortunately most of those smoothie chains serve their smoothies with protein powders, dairy, sweet syrups and who knows what else!
Take out all of those crazy and unnecessary additives, and add a few frozen fruits like blueberries and bananas, some fresh kale leaves (or other leafy greens), a little coconut oil, water or almond milk and you’ve got yourself a smoothie or blended drink! It’s really that simple and they’re absolutely delicious!
The downside to drinking a blended mixture is that the body still has to work or expend more energy to digest this drink because of the fiber content. However, if you’re blending and want to remove the pulp, this can be done very simply. Place your blended contents into a milk bag or sprouting bag and squeeze the juice from the fiber.
So, if you’re wanting to give your body a rest, juice. If you’re trying to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your lifestyle, both juicing and blending are perfect options! They both also help our bodies to eliminate waste in a more healthy and timely manner. One important element to both juicing and blending is to CHEW! This may sound crazy, but chewing (or making the chewing action) actually helps get the digestive juices in the mouth working. This way, when the liquid hits your stomach it doesn’t cause any belly discomfort.
Because many fruit smoothies are high in acid, it’s best to use a straw positioned at the back of the mouth so that the liquid avoids the teeth. Then, rinse your mouth with water after you’re done drinking - this prevents enamel erosion.
To get the most out of your juices and smoothies always use organic produce. When shopping look for organics that are on sale and create and organize your menus around those products. Always wash all your produce in a bath of cool water in your sink, dry gently, and then place in green bags. Be sure to place the day’s date on the bag and then refrigerate. You’ll now be ready to grab anything from the fridge at a moment’s notice and prepare juices and smoothies in an effortless manor. When fruits are on sale or during the summertime and when farmer’s markets are everywhere, purchase your fruits by the case and freeze them. This makes them a perfect addition to your smoothies any time of year! One thing that I have learned over the years is when freezing my fruits, zipper sandwich bags work like a charm. They allow for easy stacking and access. The fruits don’t freeze into on solid ball when laid flat. This makes it so much easier to open and remove the desired amount, without having to resort to using a hammer to break the frozen fruit apart. When you’re preparing your juices and smoothies remember to cut your fruits and vegetables into smaller pieces. This not only saves on the wear and tear of your appliances, but helps prevent your food from being overheated because your blender or juicer won’t have to work as hard. This will help keep all the enzymes and nutrients intact.
OK, now that you know a bit more about juicing and blending, you’re ready to get started! So, download some recipes from SplendorInTheRaw.com and start choosing your favorites!
To Your Health!

Multi-dimensional living

by Dyan Garris
Multi-dimensional living is living here on Earth as a balanced and harmonious combination of mind, body, and spirit, while realizing that we are even more than that at the same time. On the surface that may seem fairly easy to understand or do because we’ve been hearing that we are mind, body, and spirit for a while now. We know that we are supposed to strive for this state of being. But how do we actually accomplish this mind, body, spirit synchronicity especially when we may perceive that we have no time to do so or no real knowledge of how to do so? And how do we gain an understanding of ourselves as multi-dimensional beings?
The very first thing to understand is that it’s challenging for most people to even think of living in a balanced and harmonious way, let alone bring the multi-dimensional concept into the mix. We can read these words, we can understand the concept, and yet not be able to apply them to our earthbound reality. We may perceive the thought of living in synchronicity and in alignment with our “selves” as some kind of elusive exercise in futility, something to be attained at some other time, if ever. We may perceive it as a chore, or something that no one can possibly attain here. We may even perceive it as slightly “off the wall.” But it’s not. It really is learning to take everything you have in your refrigerator and making something out of it. We have the ingredients. We just need to have the courage to take them off the “ice” and put them all together in the frying pan.
In order to remain firmly rooted and grounded in our earthly incarnations, we have to believe in the reality of our earthbound perceptions to a certain extent. Sometimes we buy fully into them. We’ve been taught that we need to believe in certain limitations in order to survive here. Anything else may seem “New Agey” or wacky.
But in truth, the earthbound reality is an illusion created for the purpose of giving us a forum in which to work on lessons in love. And while such a great gift to us, the thought of other realities may be a little difficult for our minds to comprehend, because we have been taught for the most part to believe only in what we see, feel, hear, and ostensibly experience here on the earth plane. And in general, we remain very “I” centered, even while trying to figure out the bigger picture.
Yes, being here on Earth is a great and wonderful gift and we have opportunity to create, to live, to be, to experience anything we choose. As a global consciousness, let’s ask ourselves just what we’ve done with this “present.” As seemingly single consciousness, what have we done with our presents of free will, choices, and incredible gift of creation? Instead of gaining an understanding of what we’re doing here, we choose to be driven by our root chakra desires, base level mentality, ego-centered drama, and our belief system of pieces of paper as power instead of a simple form of fair exchange. We choose to dishonor and destroy and abuse and loathe, both singularly and in a bigger picture sort of way.
Multi-dimensional living is remembering how to integrate the mind, body, and spirit - the oneness we once knew - here on the earth plane. Multi-dimensional living is understanding that everything we do has an effect on everyone else, whether they are here on this earth or not. But it’s more than that too.
Tell me, do we really believe with all of the stars and planets out there that we are the only living, cognizant, coherent, intelligent, thinking beings that exist? That seems rather arrogant. What if everything we do or don’t do affects every single living thing in the universe? What if there are many “Earths?” What if they are just far enough away that we are never supposed to find each other in a physical way in our lifetimes? It does not mean they do not exist.
Can we open our minds enough to the possibility that the form we recognize and see ourselves in now here on Earth is only one aspect of ourselves? Can we wrap our minds around the notion that we may indeed have other aspects of ourselves living and learning in different parts of the universe? Can we conceive of the idea that all of this may be happening at the same time this earthly aspect of yourself is living here and learning the lessons in love that you agreed to learn here?
I am reminded of b.j. King years ago talking about “Oversouls.” At the time, I had no idea what she was talking about. My mind couldn’t comprehend it and I remember thinking how strange it seemed. If we even think of defining the word ”Oversoul” we may think with our limited perceptions, of a higher self or something similar in connotation. But what if an “Oversoul” is made up of all of the different aspects of yourself that have chosen to be scattered around the universe learning different or even similar lessons that you are learning here on Earth all at the same time? What if one of the main purposes of that is so that when all of the aspects of oneself come back together, they may do so as “whole?” These concepts would certainly redefine the definition of “One-self.”
In thinking of ourselves as multi-dimensional beings, the belief systems of the mind are the biggest hurdles to overcome. The mind may firmly believe in the illusions of separation, duality, and limitation. The beginning of the ability to bring mind, body, and spirit together actually begins in the mind. The mind thinks thoughts. And whatever it thinks then creates “reality.” Your body then follows the patterns that the mind has set in motion. And the spirit tries to do whatever it came here to do.
When these three are in conflict, we create conflict and drama in our lives. We then create a linear, rather than multi-dimensional existence and this is very limiting to our soul growth. The key to balance here is to learn to integrate all three so that they work together in harmony. It’s not difficult, but it does take the willingness to move beyond your linear mindset, belief systems, patterns, and habits, and remind yourself that you are spirit in a physical body having a physical experience, not the other way around.
Every time you come up against someone or something you do not understand, ask yourself what you are supposed to learn from the experience. Ask yourself what the purpose of such an experience might be. Ask yourself what you should do or what you already did in the past with such a great gift. You will find that such questions will lead you to answers about who you really are and will help bring your mind and body together. And you will find when the mind and physical body come together in alignment, the spirit can then shine through and we can move forward on the path toward our life’s purpose. Multi-dimensionally, of course.

Messages of Hope for 2009 and Beyond
February 26, 2009 by Rebbekah
This planet needs messages of hope for 2009 and beyond. And much of that hope depends on what you choose to do with information that has been brought to you. As you watch the foundations of your belief systems crumbling into the dust of the illusion, we bring you messages of hope.
Choose wisely, now. Examine all that has brought you to this point. It is essential that you get out of your egos and begin to see that those of you that dwell on the Earth are not alone. What you do affects all beings, even if you do not understand it to be so. The longer you stay in your earth-bound root chakra illusions, your perceived wounds, the more challenges you will have in this area, for the time has come to “grow up.”
You already are able to hear communications from other beings and from disincarnates. Instead of taking these and putting them into an ego bound presentation, be willing to learn discernment as well. For there are many disincarnates and many beings with their own agendas. This is not “bad” but it can mislead you and others, particularly if you are attached to “being right” or “predicting” that only serves to glorify you.
The information you receive is not necessarily true information, simply because you are receiving it. The truth of the information depends upon the giving and the receiving filters and also depends upon choices. Not all is etched in stone. You have free will and can thus change the course of events that are not “written.”
Time is an illusion and is multi-dimensional. Some information comes through the filter of that multi-dimensional framework and filters into the earth plane as what “can” happen. Shift consciousness enough, shift thought forms enough, and you have the ability to change a “future” prediction.
And again, you must use discernment in channeling beings. There are many that know that their own “future” has much to do with what you do. Did you ever consider that possibility or are you simply attached to making true and correct predictions? How attached are you to being right? How attached are you to hearing whatever you want to hear simply because the ego is attached to its position? If you are willing, examine these things at their very core.
The energy that you will want to channel is the energy of Love and the energy of change and hope, not the energy of ego driven agendas, including your own.
Give yourselves up to Love. Distance yourselves from your root chakra desires. Begin to understand fully the systems of exchange you have created and how utterly distorted they have become as they are built on nothing but illusion.
Honor yourselves in every way and honor the energy of others, instead of taking what is given as an act of Love without thought of returning your energy in some way. To not exchange is to dishonor Love.
Realize that you are not separate and are not inconsequential and perhaps that helps you give up the need for ego recognition and the illusory pieces of paper and ostensible power that may follow whatever energy you put out to the world.
Learn to co-create your lives from the root, as you are biologically designed to do. All mysteries have answers and so many simple answers are here on your planet if you would only get back to the basics of how things are intrinsically designed to operate.
Remove yourselves from fear. Let go of the past, not by ignoring it, but by facing and resolving it. Fear blocks love and love is the root of all creation. Love lives as hope encased in a very tiny seed. And to grow, that seed must be planted, and tended to, and watered. If you do all this and yet truly believe that your seed will not sprout, or will sprout as imperfect, then you have fed your seed that energy and therefore that is what will come up along with it. Then you reap the fear that you have sown and you use it to feed yourselves with, thus begetting more fear.
Release all fear. It serves you not. You are safe. You are guided. You are protected. What you are really afraid of is having your illusions shattered.
You do not need money to live. You have chosen money as your form of exchange. The way your system is set up, this could easily change overnight. Someone in a position of perceived power in your world could proclaim that money is worthless now, but what has real value now is beads. And how easily that would reverberate around your world, and then many will believe it to be true, and thus start collecting and hoarding beads instead of understanding that neither beads nor money have value.
Exchange, energy exchange is what has value. Learn discernment because it takes you out of fear. Learn and practice energy exchange because that is what has value and it is what your course correction is all about. Those that refuse to understand about how energy flows and those that insist upon remaining firmly stuck in their points of view, perceptions, and perspectives, and attachments to the way things should be, are those that block their own path. Truly.
And you have dishonored yourselves by giving your power away to pieces of paper and your perceptions of the power they hold over you to make you happy, to define who you are, to solve your problems, to make you whole. Energy is what is real and what cannot be destroyed. You’ve heard that Love is the strongest power in the universe, but you have yet to take that in as truth.
This year, 2009 is a pivotal year for this to be taken in as truth in a mass consciousness kind of way. Put as much energy on this as you have recently in trying to bring yourselves pieces of paper, and watch the power of this truth come flowing into your lives, like the sweet water it is, quenching an undeniable thirst.
You have a long way to go, but you also have the very powerful energy flowing between you of the group dynamic, due to the technology advances you have made. This is where the hope is. If you begin to use the technology you have built to relay messages of Love and hope and kindness to each other and through each other, you have the ability and the power to shift your entire paradigm and very quickly.
Start at the root. Refuse to engage in any activities that do not bring you joy. Examine and discover what does bring you joy and begin to create your lives around that. It is our hope that you take heed now and be willing to do something to shift your consciousness.
Align not with what you THINK is real and what you’ve been taught is real. Align now with the Truth. Remember that we are with you, and know that wherever there is hope, there is Love. They grow together as One. It is our hope that you will now begin to grow together such as these and then come together as the Oneness that you are.
With All Blessings,

The Ultimate Breakthrough by Ken Unger Book Review

“If you have an emotional problem you need an emotional cure”
Time doesn’t heal all wounds. It doesn’t really heal anything. And unless our wounds are healed, they plunder our lives, sabotaging our health, wealth, relationships, our entire well-being.
So starts out The Ultimate Breakthrough -Spiritual Therapy for Emotional Pain by Ken Unger…
For many of my Heal Yourself Talk Radio listeners you know that I have dealt with emotional issues from depression to anger to a feeling of loss over the past few years which led me to do the radio show.
Why am I telling you this in a product review? I know what it is like to deal with emotional issues and not really get to the heart of it by dealing with them the right way. I push them away only to be led right back to the same issues over and over again.
Reading “The Ultimate Breakthrough ” has shown me several different ways that I can actually heal those issues and move past them to never have to deal with the same ones again. Ken Unger delivers his Sacred Psychiatry through compassion, and from a personal life experience. I have known Ken for many years and I know a lot of his personal history. I find it amazing and a tribute to a writer when they can draw on what they themselves learned in their own life and pass on that information to help others learn how to heal themselves.
The Ultimate Breakthrough is filled with stories of other people who are facing emotional trials and tribulations in their lives and are seeking help, Ken is there guiding you through each of their lives showing you how you can change and become not only a more spiritual person but a happier person as well.
Each chapter has scriptures to mediate on, journaling questions and more so you can become an active participant in your own self healing.
I must warn you that many of the journaling questions will open not only your heart but your mind to what is behind the emotional pain you are feeling so be prepared to really learn how to heal yourself and for many other issues to surface. They did for me. Through some of the exercises I realized that many of my current issues really stemmed from issues I never resolved in my past. I cried, I laughed and I healed!
So if you are looking for a book that will actively help you heal your life than I highly recommend Ken Unger’s book “The Ultimate Breakthrough Spiritual Thereapy for Emotional Pain” by reading and doing the exercises you will be just one step closer to becoming the person you want to be-A happier and healthier you!

Receiving Help From the Angels
January 18, 2009 by Rebbekah
To make miracles we need only dare to ask. There are legions of angels - physical and Divine - all around us, just waiting to help us create what we want in life. There is only one condition to their help… we must ask for it.
Dare to Ask
What do you want? What are your desires right now, next month, next year? If you know specifically your goals in life, have the courage to make a plan, and feel comfortable to ask God for what you need to complete your plan, you are a rare person. Most of us are reluctant to put a voice to our goals and ask for help with our plans, because daring to ask is foreign to our nature.
We Have Issues
We must be willing to ask for what we want. The issue in asking is the fear of rejection and disappointment. We fear we do not deserve enough, thin enough, strong enough, or even smart enough to know what we want, so we let our friends and families dictate what is best for us. Bull! If you want more out of life, decide right now to dare to ask, because you deserve miracles!
Do Your Exercises
If you want more out of life, decide right now and ask. Start by asking yourself what is most important to you. Then, start by giving yourself what you want as much as you can. I always suggest to folks that they start with little things, like I want a cup of tea, or a walk in the park, or a bubble bath, and then work up to the big things, like a new car or house. The beauty of this exercise is that the more you dare to ask, and the more you dare to give yourself, the more you discover about yourself.
Make a list of what you want and dare to include some of the big things along with that new coat you’ve been admiring. Think of how you want to live, and where, and who you want around you, what relationships you want to develop, what you’d like to be doing, what you’d like to learn; then think of how you want to feel, and how you want your surroundings to feel. Project yourself into your vision of the future, allow yourself to feel it lovingly, passionately, as if it were already happening. Then turn it over to God and the angels, and your guides and expect miracles.
And, if you’re not sure you want what you think you want, then ask the angels for help in getting clear about what you want…
Dare to ask for what you want… and then dare to ask God and the angels for help! The angels are listening, waiting for your requests so they can swing into action. When you dare to ask, you open yourself up for help from legions of angels - and to miracles!
Ask, for the highest good of all, and it shall be given unto you.
The Bible, John chapter 16 verse 24: “Ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.”

How To Heal Your Life
January 16, 2009 by Rebbekah
By Ken Unger
Many talk about healing but it’s amazing how few people — even the experts — know much about it. When I developed a book proposal for my healing workbook I went to secular and Christian bookstores to find out what books were available on healing. In the secular stores many therapy type books talk about healing but they usually only deal with giving intellectual advice. One popular author with many books on healing writes solely on nutrition, as if diet alone can heal you — and he’s overweight!
Real lasting healing doesn’t happen from the neck up nor does it depend on what you eat. It’s far deeper than that. Healing is in God’s domain. It’s is a spiritual issue. I love the statement, “The physician sets the bone but God heals the break.” Let’s face it: only God can truly heal.
Having said that, how exactly does He heal? Even the Christian books I looked at didn’t seem to have much better answers than secular ones. Some famous Christian therapists are merely baptized medical psychiatrists, pinning their hopes on prescription drugs to treat emotional disorders. One man who wrote a healing workbook had some good advice but it was 20 years old and really didn’t explain how to get healed.
Neither drugs nor advice heal anything, they merely treat symptoms. That has virtually nothing to do with a God who promised to heal ALL our diseases. So again we’re left with the question, how does God heal?
Jeremiah was known as the healing prophet. In the 30th chapter of the book of Jeremiah we learn much about healing. First we learn that our wounds are incurable (vs. 12). Next we discover that drugs won’t help us. No medicine can cure what’s wrong with us (vs. 13). Then we learn that God has wounded us (vs. 14). In that same verse we learn why. It’s because of our sins. Sins are bad choices that make our life worse, not better.
If Jeremiah stopped there we’d really be in trouble. Thankfully he doesn’t. In verse 17, the Lord promises to restore our health and heal our wounds. That’s a relief. He then goes on to tell us all the wonderful things that will happen because of our healing. Verse 18-22 list ten terrific benefits from healing, including freedom from bondage, experiencing loving kindness, restoration of our fortunes and glory — which is far better than self-esteem. You’ll also experience thanksgiving, self rule, significance — this is all good stuff! Jeremiah ends the chapter by inferring this will all happen in the last days.
Those last days began with Jesus. Very few people understand the profound implications of Jesus being the Christ. Christ means anointed, empowered by God. Three of the six things Jesus says He was anointed to do involve healing the inner person. Jesus was anointed to “heal the brokenhearted, deliver the captives, and liberate those who are oppressed” (Luke 4:18).
The Lord knew that the end times would be full of emotional pain. Where sin abounds pain abounds, and these last days are characterized by more sinful living than any time in the history of mankind. There’s no such thing as a sin that doesn’t hurt anyone. Sin at the very least hurts the sinner. Too often it hurts others as well.
Ironically, our age of sexual liberation has taken many prisoners. Before the age of 18, one in four girls are raped. This is usually a date rape but too often it includes molestation by family members also. Alcoholism, divorce, drug abuse, abortion, work addiction, and many compulsive behaviors are rampant today. All these things take a toll on the human psyche; all wound the soul very deeply. Few if any Americans today escape even adolescence let alone life unscathed. Almost all of us are walking wounded, we’ve just learned to hide it very well.
Because these wounds break our hearts, the damage they do affects us emotionally. Cognitive therapy — even good pastoral counseling — is very limited in its ability to help us. That’s why so many people are disenchanted with counseling. A woman recently called to tell me she has gone to counselors on and off for 23 years and is no better off!
So, why doesn’t it help us more? We only remember 10% of what’s happened to us. That means at best counseling leaves 90% of our problems untreated.
So what’s the solution? God knows everything that ever happened to us. He knew us before we were in the womb! Better yet He’s given spiritual gifts to His people — intuitive knowledge and wisdom that can uncover the hidden things in our darkest past places. Finally, He’s provided His Spirit to literally heal all our dis-eases.
At our Transformational Healing Retreat we show you how to do this. We train people in the simple yet profound methods that gently open old wounds and tap God’s power to heal them. That’s why we can almost guarantee that you will experience profound healing and transformation in just a weekend. You won’t be perfect, all your problems won’t just evaporate, but you will take a great step forward in healing your life, and you’ll have the tools that will help you continue your lifelong healing journey more successfully.
I believe these are the last days Jeremiah talked about. I also believe that Jesus yearns to heal the things that bind us and hold us back. That’s wonderful news, because healing improves everything in our life.

FENG SHUI ALERT FOR EVENT PLANNERS
Feng Shui Harmony, and Good Energy Flow Location for Events, Meetings and Workshops
This past weekend I attended a three-day workshop to gain knowledge in the speaking for wealth arena.
As a Feng Shui Consultant the first things I notice are positioning of the building along with interior forms, entrance and sha chi which are negative energies coming at, yes pointing at, the building. It was a beautiful replica of an old Italian villa. Situated at the entrance and exit of the busy 405 Freeway in Manhattan Beach, California, it has so much rushing traffic flow in all directions. This might be disturbing at first glance but because it is a hotel and the visitors are just that - visitors coming and going, it is not a detriment to the bottom line due to the location. On the contrary, the hotel is well positioned, viewed by all the vehicles rushing by. In feng shui theory if a house were to be located next to a freeway or rushing traffic that would not be such a good thing. The result of that is like a rushing river taking your possessions with it and so it is not recommended.
The entryway was a very large automatic sliding door which opened to a gorgeous marble and brass impressive staircase. Similar feng shui principles apply. If the front door of a house opens to a stairway leading up to a second floor, it would be bad feng shui because the chi or energy entering would not be able to be contained and allowed to meander to the other rooms of the house. In this case, the doors are constantly open to the outside and the staircase, although looks like one set of stairs, at the landing splits and leads to secondary stairs to the right and to the left of the building. Considering that chi or energy travels in and out quickly, and that customers are not in the rooms for a long duration, it does not adversely affect the visiting occupants.
The table in the center of the room and between the stairs and entryway was a great buffer that slowed down the rushing chi entering the front door. The orchid plant in the center could have been larger to absorb the fast flowing energy entering the lobby.
The interior design was a pleasing luxurious European inspired decor with lots of charm. It was a pleasant experience to be surrounded by the luxury of a well groomed fountain courtyard and fireplaces with big comfortably cushioned armchairs.
The ballroom where the workshop took place was peaceful and with good feng shui seating relative to the stage and presenters. Incorrect placement can also affect the outcome of an event. The event hosts chose a very good location to have such an event and it proved to be very successful not only monetarily but the people in the room experienced good energy that promoted a sense of healthy environmental well-being.

SELF-CARE AND SPIRITUALITY
January 11, 2009 by Rebbekah

Spirituality and self-care are very closely related in my own life. I consider following a daily spiritual path or discipline to be an integral part of my self-care. When I am lax in following my path, my self-care is always negatively effected. It’s hard for me to imagine living my life without following some sort of regular spiritual path. When I don’t follow my path regularly, I make unwise decisions, I feel less comfortable in my own skin and around people and in general, I’m not at peace with the world. I also tend to feel more alone, which is not my favorite place to be in for long.
For some people, living a life without following a regular spiritual path is quite the norm. For some people following a spiritual path, is something that they either have never heard of, never been introduced to or never thought about in relationship to how they care for themselves. For others, spirituality isn’t an important part of their lives, and may only become important during a difficult time, such as a personal tragedy, an accident or a natural disaster. Then there are those who have never practiced a spiritual path, by choice and belief. They’ve chosen not to believe in something outside of themselves, for any number of reasons, including not believing in the concept or having been taught another belief system along the way.
Where does spirituality fit in your life? How does it fit in? If it does fit in, does it have any effect on your self-care or not? Do you pursue a daily spiritual practice? How does your practice fit in with the rest of your life? If you don’t currently have a spiritual practice, do you want to develop one? Is there something missing in your life that might lead you in that direction? Do you believe in a power greater than yourself? Do you believe that your life would be better if you were able to ask for help from a power outside of yourself? Or not?
I hope that some of these thoughts and questions will give you some food for thought to process in your journal or with a trusted friend about your relationship with spirituality and self-care.
I hope that you find this article helpful. Please feel free to comment on it here or at my coaching blog .
