The Key to Being Organized

Mar 6th, 2008 | By Andrea | Category: Uncategorized

Many times, people over-complicate the task of organizing. They make elaborate plans for their organizing efforts, and then find themselves overwhelmed by the complications they created.

Meanwhile, the real key to organization could not possibly be any simpler: create a place for everything. As the old saying goes, a place for everything and everything in its place. After you have determined where you want to store each category of items, the process of  organizing is a breeze. All you have to do make sure your "stuff" ends up in it’s designated place and you are done.

There are a number containers you can use to store your items. Plastic bins (of all shapes and sizes) are readily available at department stores. Bins are often the most convenient way to store and organize things because they don’t take up much space and can be labeled and stacked, making your items easy to find as well. You can also choose from a wide variety of readily available organizing products on the market. Either way, whatever your choose should be effective and inexpensive.

Make sure you make the best use possible of the space available. Stackable containers, as mentioned, work well. Similarly, using wall-mounted shelving units can greatly increase the amount of space you can use for organizing your things. Don’t be afraid to separate things you do not use and either put them into storage or just get rid of them. In many cases, a cluttered area can be made much more manageable simply by taking away the extra, unneeded items. Once you have an area organized, take care not to let it fall back into disorganization. A few minutes of tidying regularly can keep you from having to repeat all your work.
